Heartbeat and mount --bind for NFS v4.
Hi all.
This is probably more of a HA list, or possibly even linux-practices,
question but all hosts concerned are running CentOS and I reckon some
of you guys might have some good suggestions. Feel free to tell me to
piss off. :)
I'm building a new CentOS, DRBD, Heartbeat and NFS HA cluster. We
already have boxes running similar setups on FC2/3 running NFS v2/3
with the Ultra Monkey

We are pleased to add drbd (with integrated heartbeat) to the CentOS
extras repository.
DRBD is a block device which is designed to build high availability
clusters. This is done by mirroring a whole block device via (a
dedicated) network. You could see it as a network raid-1.

Problem with SAMBA+HEARTBEAT
Hi all,
I have two servers ZEUS (MASTER - 192.168.2.11) and POSEIDON (SLAVE - 192.168.2.12) with HeartBeat+DRBD+SAMBA installed ; HeartBeat is controlling SAMBA.
I have a big partition which are mirrored /share.
I moved all important directory on it. For example:
# mv /var/lib/samba /share/cluster/varlibsamba
# mv /var/cache/samba /share/cluster/varcachesamba
and I make a link for each one:
# ln

heartbeat, drbd init scripts and chkconfig
Hi,
We are using the heartbeat and drbd packages from latest centos (4.3)
extras repository.
Upon installation of both packages I noticed that if you "chkconfig
heartbeat off" that will cause drbd to chkconfig'ed on. And visa versa.
After doing some trouble shooting it turns out the "BEGIN INIT INFO"
sections appear to be the cause.
drbd has:

Heartbeat + DRBD cluster : What are the config files to set in the shared volume ?
Hello,
I'm testing a HA cluster using Heartbeat and DRBD.
I've moved /etc/samba /var/log/samba /var/run/samba and /var/cache/samba to the
shared DRBD volume.
My problem is that I don't know if these are the only files I should move in the
shared volume, I can't find a doc listing all the files used by Samba.
Are there other files I should move to the shared volume so that the

samba file server with heartbeat and drbd
Hello,
While working on heartbeat/pacemaker for a web service stored on drbd, I've
thought what I've learnt could also be applied to samba in order to build a
fault tolerant file server in our domain.
While digging samba's doc, I've found that CTDB could also fulfill the need
and is maybe better suited as it's samba-related.
But on the other hand, I'd appreciate to begin

samba and failover (drbd + heartbeat)
Hi,
I've setup two server A + B (debian etch) with drbd + heartbeat in
active/passive mode. If the primary server A fails, the shared
storage is mounted on B, the virtual ip A-vip moves to the new primary
B and samba is started by heartbeat. This works well, but I'm not sure
which samba files should be identical on both server. Both have a
dedicated machine account at the moment.

samba4 + drbd + ctdb + failover
Hi
We've got drbd going between 2 nodes:)
ATM there is un-partitioned space on each node but (we think) they are
syncing OK. It looks as though it has synced the whole partition (2GB)
from the primary node 1 to the other node:

CentOS-5.3 + DRBD-8.2 + OCFS2-1.4
I've run into a problem mounting an OCFS2 filesystem on a DRBD device. I think it's the same one discussed at http://lists.linbit.com/pipermail/drbd-user/2007-April/006681.html
When I try to mount the filesystem I get a ocfs2_hb_ctl: I/O error:

re-installing a package without removing it?
Hello,
I've just noticed that the file /etc/ha.d/resource.d/drbddisk, which
belongs to package drbd-8.0.6-1.el5.centos, is missing from one of my
test machines:
# rpm --verify drbd
S.5....T c /etc/drbd.conf
missing /etc/ha.d/resource.d/drbddisk
I'm looking at this as an opporunity to learn something about RPM
which bugged me for a while - in Debian, aptitude and apt-get provide

A question about DRBD and nfs
Hi,
I been working on for about a month and half on setup drbd and nfs. I keep running into issue with the way heartbeat/pacemaker handles nfs. Does anyone know a good way to set up a HA NFS server with DRBD and Heartbeat and NFS. I am willing to share my pain in setting it up.

drbd strategy
I have an existing in-production LAMP server running Centos 5.1. It uses
physical partitions on top of hardware RAID1, having / /home /var and /boot
on separate partitions.
We have a near-identical system I am thinking of bringing in as a
DRBD/Heartbeat companion. One solution may be to use csync2
[http://oss.linbit.com/csync2/] on /etc and /usr/local (the only areas that

Long delay between xen/HVM domU shutdown and releasing vbd (drbd)
Hi,
I have a running LVM-DRBD-Xen-HVM/Win2k3 cluster-stack under debian/

Centos 4.3 & drbd
Hiya,
I'm new to Centos but learning rapidly but I have been using FreeBSD. I'm
trying to setup a HA NFS server using 2 machines. Both machines are
running 4.3 updated to the latest via Yum.
I did yum groupinstall drbd-heartbeat and
yum install kernel-module-drbd-kernel-module-drbd-2.6.9-34.EL to match my
kernel.
The problem I have is that on 1 machine drbd works fine, but when I start

DRBD NFS load issues
My NFS setup is a heartbeat setup on two servers running Active/Passive
DRBD. The NFS servers themselves are 1x 2 core Opterons with 8G ram and
5TB space with 16 drives and a 3ware controller. They're connected to a
HP procurve switch with bonded ethernet. The sync-rates between the two
DRBD nodes seem to safely reach 200Mbps or better. The processors on the
active NFS servers run with a load

Looking for Asterisk+Pacemaker+Corosync+DRBD example
I'm trying to setup a pair of FreePBX-4.211.64 boxes using Pacemaker,
Corosync, and DRBD.
All the examples I've found so far use Heartbeat, but Heartbeat is not in
the repositories and doesn't want to compile from source.
Does anyone have a working configuration they can share or a tutorial they
can point me to?
Also, what does drbdlinks bring to the party? Isn't just linking

CentOS 6.0 Heartbeat missing logd??
Hello list,
Working on migrating my existing High-Availability setups from CentOS 5.3 to 6.0, both x86_64. I generally setup a fairly simple 2 node active/passive cluster using DRBD , Heartbeat, and Pacemaker. Use these clusters to run our proprietary Medical software plus a few key services ( openvpn , Digi PortServer Daemon, etc.). I had a procedure in place for doing all of this under 5.3
