MOH - 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20%CPU each -normal ?
No, DON'T use mpg321, it will not work. Make sure you're using mpg123. MPG123 with Asterisk on debian (one of our interesting experiences)
This was just a recent personal experience.... Maybe I missed a thread on this: We recently installed asterisk (CVS-HEAD) on a debian system using 2.6 kernel and the enhanced RTC for all timing. Also a custom compiled kernel for the CPU on the box (P4). We had a strange thing happen in that with Debian's MPG123 package: Sound files played in asterisk/mpg123 were heard at literally 1/10th

MOH problems
I am trying to music on hold but I am having all sorts of problems with it. I am running RH9 and the latest version of Asterisk as of yesterday. Here is what I did to test it: 1. I manually deleted the mpg123 softlink to mpg321. 2. I downloaded mpg123-0.59r-1.n0i.src.rpm, compiled and installed the the archive and loaded ztdummy.o module. 3. I threw a couple extra files in the mohmp3 directory

Redhat 9 Music on hold
I have read every thread, I have Redhat 9, Asterisk 1.0.6, 2 T1 lines connected via TE405P. Everything works great, except MOH. I added an exten with MusicOnHold(30), and it plays just fine. Conferences have music when no one is in. I have SIP phones. When I place a call on hold, the CLI give no indication the call is on hold. I have set musiconhold(default) everywhere, removed it from everywhere,

MOH Server
Has anyone managed to set up a moh server for Asterisk? Reason would be to offload processing off the asterisk box, onto another system. The wiki is a bit light on details. If anyone managed to get it up and working, what software did you use on the server side, and what client app did you use? Mpg123? Mpg321? Madplayer? Something else? Also, putting legal ramifications aside, it'd be nifty

mp3 playback (mpg123)
Hi All, First of all a quick thanks to everyone that has provided me with hints and tips over the past few days. I'm still experiencing problems with the playback of MP3s. The MP3 files will playback but they suffer from "stuttering". mpg123 is installed and plays back the file without problem via the desktop speakers. (It is definitely mpg123 installed, and not mpg321) The

MP3s in /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 causes Asterisk crash
Hi All, I have just compiled the newest version of mpg123 on a RedHat 9.0 system (mpg321 has not been installed) and I am using the newest CVS version of asterisk. Whenever I place any mp3 files in the /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/ directory, Asterisk crashes a horrible fiery death. If mp3s exist in that directory, then I can't even start Asterisk. If I start it without files then copy

Beginner couple of questions
Dear all, I have some questions, I'm sure it's pretty stupid for most of you, but I need you guys to help me. Here are my questions: 1. Music On Hold, it doesn't play any sound on the parked call or hold call. But if I do ps-ax, it shows mpg123 .....( I forgot the exact line). I'm using slackware 9.1 2. I have fxs 3 port, and in my zapata.conf I have included callpickup=1-4,

Asterisk 1.0.5-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RC5 crashes with Ouch ... error while writing audio data: : Broken pipe
I have Asterisk 1.0.5-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RC5 up and running. Everything seems to be running fine but after some time asterisk just goes crazy (even withouth any incoming or outgoing call activity perviously). If I leave the box up for some time * goes haywire and the console is flooded with this message: Ouch ... error while writing audio data: : Broken pipe At that time I can see that there

can't get musiconhold to work
I can't seem to get musiconhold to work. I'm running asterisk on a RH9 box, I have the mpg123 package installed. In my zapata.conf file I have the line MusicOnHold=default . In my musiconhold.conf file, in the classes section I uncommented default and loud. In my extensions.conf file I have a set musiconhold line. However if I get a call and I either put it on hold or hit flash

On Hold music
This may sound kind of crazy and I maybe missing something. But are you placing the call on hold so you can hear the hold music. This may not be the case but you may have to place the call on hold to here the music. Also you mentioned sound, you do not need a sound card in the asterisk box to use this hold music feature. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From:

1.2.6 doesn't use mpg123?
Is it true that asterisk 1.2.6 does not use mpg123? I just installed asterisk 1.2.6 and while I do have music on hold (through format_mp3?) I do not have an mpg123 process running. I seem to be having serious audio issues when going through one of my providers (and just through that provider) when using mp3 for hold music, however when using wav files it is fine. The processor is only at about

Very odd musiconhold
I've followed the docs on how to configure musiconhold. I then added an extension to test it like this: exten => 6601,1,WaitMusicOnHold(30) And when I dial that extension I do hear something for 30 seconds - but it is not what I'd call music... it sounds more like the sound effects from a scifi flick - now and then it sounds like jail cell doors closing and echoing. Kinda cool but

problem w/ musiconhold & mpg123
I'm trying to get musiconhold to work w/ my Asterisk system, and I'm not having much success yet. First, I noticed that nothing happened even after I had enabled all of the options in zapata.conf & setup a sample extension in extensions.conf. Then I read something about how Asterisk uses mpg123 to play the files. I discovered that this had not been installed on my system, so I

MOH - 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20%CPU each - normal ?
Hi, I have P4 2.8 HT machine with Asterisk. I spot 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20% of CPU each even when no call is made to Asterisk or any other PBX activity is on ? Is this behaviour normal ? Regards, Robert.

Weird experience with MOH
Hi I thought I share this one, just in case this is an indication of some bug ... When I was trying to use music on hold at first, I didn't bother to copy any music into /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 since there was a sample- hold.mp3 in there which played just fine in a standalone MP3 player. But after uncommenting one of the lines in musiconhold.conf and doing reload on the console, there

mpg123 on x86_64 (Opteron MP)
Has anyone successfully compiled mpg123 in the 1.0.x or 1.2beta1 distributions (I'm running FC3 linux on an Opteron 2 processor system)? Are there any patches out there to make it work? gcc -DI386_ASSEM -DPENTIUM_OPT -DREAL_IS_FLOAT -DLINUX - DREAD_MMAP -DOSS -DTERM_CONTROL -Wall -O2 - m486 -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-all- loops

MP3 Crashing Asterisk
Hi Users, I have a problem with some of my mp3 files. they crash the system (Asterisk 1.6.2.14 on a x86_64 running Fedora 13 ) when it tries to play them. Unfortunately the logs do not give me a clear fault or cause of crash but i can clearly see that ts because of the MP3 files. Its the way some files are encoded. Is there a way I can make it skip the files that can be played? I use the
