centos4.2:raid1:grub
Hi!
Whew, I have googled around a lot w/this but can't quite seem to come up
w/the right answer.
This system works beautifully w/nothing wrong w/it. But my goal is to be
able to test the raid system by just unplugging hda to mimic a faulty
drive and have it just carry on and boot from hdc.
md0 = hda1/hdc1 /boot (primary boot partitions on both drives)
md1 = hda2/hdc2 /

Software RAID on CentOS 5 ... ideas ...
Greetings ...
Been lurking on the list for some time, hoping that at some point, I
might be able to add to the collective (Yes, way to much StarTrek in
the background! ) ...
I have learn quite a bit by just lurking, but now I think I might
have something to add ... I'm not sure the exact protocol or procedure
for this and it's late in the evening and would like get this out,

FIXED Re: Re: MD Raid 1 software device not booting not even reaching grub
doing that grub-install /dev/sda will give me the "corresponding BIOS
device" error.
But now I fixed it by doing a manual grub install.
first boot with cd1 and type linux rescue at the prompt
when you're at the linux prompt after detecting and mounting the
partitions, do a "chroot /mnt/sysimage"
then
# grub --batch
#grub> root (hd0,0)

I'm going to guess that there are no IDE drives that have 4096 byte
physical sectors, but it's worth confirming you don't have such a
drive because the current partition scheme you've posted would be
sub-optimal if it does have 4096

CentOS 5 grub boot problem
I never thought I'd say this, but I think it's easier to do this with
GRUB 2. Anyway I did an installation to raid1's in CentOS 6's
installer, which still uses GRUB legacy. I tested removing each of the
two devices and it still boots. These are the commands in its log:
: Running... ['/sbin/grub-install', '--just-copy']
: Running... ['/sbin/grub',

Centos 5.5 KVM GRUB / Virtio issue
I have a virtual machine that had been running fine using a RAW disk
image (IDE).
I am in the process of converting this virtual machine to use a single
LVM and virtio. (For LVM backup snapshots and easy resizing purposes (no
LVM within the guest))
I create the LVM and copied all the files from the existing RAW image to
an ext3 under the LVM.
However, I cannot get it to boot. It has to do

AW: Increase size of file-based diskimage (with MBR, partitions + fs)
Hey
I had the same problem some time ago. But here is a solution how to do that, but it''s a bit tricky!
REQUIREMENT: THE SYSTEM PARTITION ON THE IMAGE MUST BE THE FIRST PARTITION, AFTER THAT THERE MUST BE ONLY SWAP PARTITIONS!!!!
This setup would work, there should be no risk at all:
Partition 1 on the image: /
Partition 2 on the image: swap space
This setup WONT''T WORK, YOU

mdadm problem.
So I'm trying to RAID-1 this system which has two identical disks
installed in it, and it isn't working for some reason.
I started by doing a CentOS-4 install on /dev/sda1 as root, and with
/dev/sda2 as my swap.
I finish the install, yum update, and then I want to make the mirrors.
I copy the partition table from one disk to the other:
# sfdisk -d /dev/sda | sfdisk /dev/sdb

Centos 6.2 x64 after GRUB menu, black screen with blinking cursor
Dear CentOS users,
I installed CentOS 6.2 x64 in a Sun Fire X4450 machine, it has 4 disks and
I configured them to be a single volume (no RAID). The installer sees the
volume perfectly, its 570Gb. I created two ext3 partitions, /dev/sda1 and
/dev/sda2. In the logs I see they are formated correctly. All the files are
installed.
Then when I reboot, I get to the GRUB menu. Choose the first and only
