Debian and Ubuntu packages of 1.2.5
The Xapian 1.2.5 packages are now in Debian unstable, and I will upload backports for Debian 6.0 (squeeze) once they've all migrated to testing, which should happen in a few days time: http://backports.debian.org/ I've uploaded backported packages of 1.2.5 for hardy, karmic, lucid, maverick and natty, except for xapian-bindings which failed to build on hardy:

Ubuntu package for dovecot 2.0.x from debian package
Hi, I am running a server under Ubuntu 11.04(natty) and I would like to install a 2.x version but unfortunately the only package available is 1.2.15. Of course I could compile and install from sources but I would prefer to handle packages because it's a lot simpler and cleaner. After some research I found some debian packages available here :

Forward-Compatibility with Ubuntu 11.04 (10.10 Netbook) plus
After testing some wine apps on Ubuntu 11.04 A2 today, and using 10.10 NE in previous weeks, I've notice a few issues that may hinder the use of Wine on this OS. These are mostly aesthetic and ease of use, but are worth noting in any case. 1: Removal of Notification Area/System Tray For those who aren't aware, 11.04 and 10.10N used the new Unity interface, instead of the legacy GNOME GUI.

Internal error - invalid parameters recieved
Hello, I've upgraded to maverick from lucid (a clean install). I've been getting the same error for many applications running from wine, each in it's own bottle. Garena starts with the error but I can't log in, Heroes 3 runs without a glitch and suddenly crashes with the same error, Microsoft Office same thing, just crashes out of the blue, I can't install ie7 or ie8....same

A guide to R packages for Ubuntu
Hi everyone, I am using the backports from http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/lucid/ on Lucid and would like to create a bunch of additional r-cran packages on my workstation. Where can I find the latest scripts to automatically create those packages? Is https://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/cran2deb/ still up-to-date? Best -Dominique

block node 202 in maverick domU
Hello, this subject came up yesterday in ##xen@freenode.net In an Ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) domU, using /dev/xvda in ------------- mavU.cfg --------- disk = [ "phy:/dev/VG/mavU,xvda,w" ] # ------ snip cfg ------ leads to `rootfs not found` errors and the domU will not finish booting. However, changing xvda->sda works, as long as its done in config, fstab, and perhaps in

Debian and Ubuntu packages of 1.2.3
I've updated the Debian packaging for Debian and Ubuntu for Xapian 1.2.3. The Xapian 1.2.3 packages are now in Debian unstable and should transition to Debian testing fairly soon, and certainly in time for the upcoming release of Debian 6.0 (squeeze). I'm using a second PPA on launchpad for backported versions of these packages for various Ubuntu releases:

Wine can't initialize OpenGL
My wine used to work fine - I'm using Lucid and wanted wine 3.16 because of a bug fix, and I figured the maverick debian would probably be fine, and I installed it, and OpenGL suddenly didn't work. So I used "completely remove" in Synaptic to uninstall the maverick version of wine and went back to the lucid 3.15 version, and it still didn't work. I replaced everything in my
