Non-monotonic spline using splinefun(method = "monoH.FC")
Hi, In my version of R, the stats package splinefun code for fitting a Fritsch and Carlson monotonic spline does not appear to guarantee a monotonic result. If two adjoining sections both have over/undershoot the way the resulting adjustment of alpha and beta is performed can give modified values which still do not satisfy the required constraints. I do not think this is due to finite precision

1.0.5: many pop3-login processes?
Hello, We are running dovecot 1.0.5 on a test server, with FreeBSD 6.2 (though I have noticed the same problem since dovecot versions in the 0.99 range). We don't have very many simultaneous pop/imap users, but we have a proliferation of pop3-login processes. Currently we have 128 such processes. We have 11 imap-login processes, but only a few actual imap processes running. Is this normal?

Connection queue full on 2.0.8
Hi, I can't find any references to this problem on 2.x. I upgraded to 2.0.8 last night, and now I am getting these errors in the logs (along with the server refusing new connections): > Dec 8 09:46:52 orford dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected: Connection queue full (no auth attempts): rip=x.x.x.x, lip=x.x.x.x, TLS > Dec 8 09:47:16 orford dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected: Connection

CRAN mirror for R in India: new one at WBUT, how do we get listed in the CRAN website?
Dear All, Folks at the West Bengal University of Technology has set up a mirror to distribute R and associated packages. Here is the URL: http://mirror.wbut.ac.in/CRAN This will be helpful for R users in South Asia and the adjoining countries. I have yet to see the site featured in the CRAN list of mirrors. What needs to be done? For those of you who are impatient and would like to give it a

Any simple way to block logins by IP address?
Does Dovecot have a facility to block pop3 and imap logins by IP address. I usually do this by putting the IPs in my border firewall, but it's in transition currently to a new one, and I'd like to end connection fairly fast. If it matters, I'm using 2.0.9. Thanks steve campbell

rsync processes never die
Greets. I'm using rsync 2.5.2 but have seen this with 2.5.1. My system is Red Hat 7.2 with the current errata updates. Using rsyncd with xinetd it seems as if old processes never go away. For example right now I have 3 open rsync connections according to netstat -nap but 30 rsync --daemon processes going! All of them show: [root@root]$ ps ax | grep rsync 24950 ? S 0:05 rsync

Throttling Logins
Hi. Earlier today I was hit with 612 login attempts in 7 minutes. They ramped up slowly, too. :-) They quickly hit the file descriptor limit. And then a login server spawned and died so quickly that dovecot just died. My question is, is there a way to throttle the number of login connections? I'm doing it in my firewall now, but it would be nice to be able to say something like

[samba4] smbd processes never die after logoff
Hello, I'm using Samba 4.0.5 in Debian Wheezy as a member server of a DC (in Debian Wheezy too with Samba 4.0.5) and the clients are Windows7 Pro. The users use shares in the member server. Sometimes, after the logoff of the users in the Win7 clients, there are connections with the member server whiches never stop. I can see it with the "smbstatus" command which point PID out to me

imap-login processes
First, thanks for this great product. We migrated from Courier last week with only small bumps along the way. We have a few hundred active users with a mix of pop3 and imap clients. The server is running on sparc Solaris 9. We're seeing a problem now with the number of "imap-login" processes rising slowly to it's limit and then (understandably) not letting any more logins

IMAP-proxy or not with sogo webmail and dovecot backend

Suggestion about "R equivalent of Splus peaks() function"
In 2004 there was this R-Help posting from Jan 2004: http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/33097.html R equivalent of Splus peaks() function? The peaks function there has worked well for me on a couple of projects, but some code using "peaks" failed today, which had worked fine in the past. I was looking for a peak in a test case that was a sine curve over one

imaptest10 and stalled messages
Greetings - I've now got as far as playing with the imaptest10 test utility to see if I can stress-test our development server. imaptest10 is built against dovecot-1.0rc28 It may just be that I'm excessively heavy handed, but when I let imaptest10 rip with the command... ./imaptest10 user=test%03d host=testserver.imap.york.ac.uk clients=50 mbox=./dovecot.mbox msgs=1000 secs=30

Doubt with imap/imap-login processes in proxy server
Hi, I have a question I have not cleared after reading https://wiki.dovecot.org/LoginProcess. I'm developing a proxy server (without director, because the backend server is specified by a ldap lookup). My question is: the limit of imap (or pop3) concurrently users that the proxy can handle is determined by the imap-login limit or the imap one? -- Angel L. Mateo Mart?nez Secci?n de
