Backup questions - errors
Hi,
although i've search the archives, there are questions left regarding
backup strategies and errors that occur.
I'm using dovecot 2.3.11.3 with mdbox (mailbox size 50MB - 30GB).
Every night, i ran the following command:
doveadm -o mail_fsync=never -o plugin/quota= -o plugin/zlib_save=gz \
backup -u account mdbox:/nfs/storage/account/mdbox
### incremental backup

mangled user_attrs from LDAP
I have setup dovecot to allow users to login using their email address
or uid and have found a strange behaviour when the user logs in using
the email address for a "username". I am using OpenLDAP for a backend
data store with a rather customized schema. This behaviour occurs for
both POP3 and IMAP logins. For some users it works as expected, but for
others the pass_attrs->user

ForwardX11Trusted
Since packaging OpenSSH 3.8p1 for Debian, I've got a flood of bug
reports and confusion about the new untrusted X client configuration.
At least part of this seems to be the short (2 minutes!) timeout on the
cookie, so that if you're impatient like me and open a connection to a
machine that takes a little while to do the key exchange, go off and do
something in another window in the

rsync server: "incoming chmod" usage
Hello :-)
According to my reading of the rsyncd.conf man page, "incoming chmod"
accepts comma-separated "chmod" strings as defined by the chmod(1) man page
optionally prefixed by D or F to make them apply to directories or files.
The local chmod(1) man page does not mention strings. It refers to modes
which may be symbolic or octal/numeric. Accordingly I tried

HELP! SNV_97,98,99 zfs with iscsitadm and VMWare!
I''m not sure if this is a problem with the iscsitarget or zfs. I''d greatly appreciate it if it gets moved to the proper list.
Well I''m just about out of ideas on what might be wrong..
Quick history:
I installed OS 2008.05 when it was SNV_86 to try out ZFS with VMWare. Found out that multilun''s were being treated as multipaths so waited till SNV_94 came out to

Memory leak on Icecast 2.3.2 / Debian ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA256
re all,
this patch has not been integrated in Debian yet, hence the Icecast2
package still segfaults after filling up all the memory with its leak.
as this is a critical bug, while it seems that the current Debian
mantainer for the icecast2 package has abandoned its duty, i'm kindly
asking the attention of debian developers included

Ogg/Vorbis fenced out of Apple's airport airtunes

re all,
a quick message to ask if anyone had the same experience trying to
play Ogg/Vorbis encoded music via wireless airport connection (the new
system Apple uses to playback on their speakers via wifi).
i use pulse-audio to interact with A's proprietary system: works quite
well, but still has some buffering glitches, so its more

New Guess OS Creation Problem
Hi All,
I am running on CentOS Released 6.1 final. Been using and running Linux KVM quite well for quite some time, something goes wrong after I perform yum upgrade.
I created new VM yesterday without any problem, same exact installation procedure, installed FreeBSD 8.2. I tried to create a new VM today after yum upgrade, it's able to detect the hard disk, when I start commit FreeBSD 8.2

no-amd-iommu-perdev-intremap + no-intremap = BOOM with Xen 4.4 (no-intremap by itself OK).
Hey
I wanted to try my hand at doing some GPU passthrough so on my ASUS
M5A97 which in the pass worked with an older BIOS (but said BIOS
had issues after S3 suspend) - but with a BIOS the PCI passthrough does
not work. That is due to::
