Team CentOS breaks though the 200 ranking barrier.
Congratulations to all the CentOS folding at home team members for breaking
through the 200 world ranking barrier. Its taken a bit of time but we've all
helped to do it. Our next target is obviously to achieve 150th in the world
ranking. But, to help achieve that we're going to need more members and more
machines. So, if you think it sounds interesting and you want to learn more,

Sweave-LaTEX question
Hi:
I am working on a publication and I have heard about LaTEX but I haven't actually tried to learn about it until today. I've found a few examples but I can't actually make them work properly. I have a couple of questions:
Does LATEX have to be installed on your computer? How does the xtable package and Sweave work together? How can I make the code below create a table as pdf file?

Sweave from Kile
Hello
Does anybody have experience with Sweave run from Kile? I'm trying to
make it run but have problems and don't know if the instructions are
false or I do something wrong (my knowledge in bash and shell is too low
to understand it)...
I discovered recently Sweave and wanted to run it from my latex editor,
Kile. I found and followed these instructions:

IPRoute2 vs Iptables
Hi all,
As I read into the forum, NATting (SNAT) is expensive, using iptables to
translate IP sucks the performance of the system. I just want to know if
IProute2 can handle NATting and if it handels NATting can it performed
faster than iptables?

Linux editor for R+LaTeX, but not Emacs
Using Tinn-R (in windows) is possible to run latex and R from the same
editor, which was great. Now, I am using Ubuntu-linux, which has been
better than WinXP. Currently, I am using Emacs (and then install ESS)
for running LaTeX and R from a same editor-program (like i was doing
with Tinn-R in windows). Nevertheless, and even though i have been using
Emacs for almost 2 years, it is not as

Sweave and kile
Dear R-users,
I want to give a try to Sweave and Latex but I am having some problems
compiling my .Rnw files within Kile. I have followed the recommendations
given in http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e5/help/08/10/4277, but they do
not seem to address my particular problem.
I am using R 2.11.0 and Kile v 2.0.83 on an OpenSUSE11.2 installation (KDE
4.3 environment). According to the log (see

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-)
I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now
tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the
repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader,
pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine,
xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I
used them happily.

using libparanoia
Hi there,
I was looking for stack smashing protection under freebsd,
so i found libparanoia (/usr/ports/security/libparanoia), i had only one
question using the normal 'make install' (so no copy-to-libc).
If i add in /ert/make.conf:
CFLAGS= -O -pipe -lparanoia -L/usr/local/lib
COPTFLAGS= -O -pipe -lparanoia -L/usr/local/lib
Will EVERYTHING build from that time (including
