preauth privsep logging via monitor
Hi, This diff (for portable) makes the chrooted preauth privsep process log via the monitor using a shared socketpair. It removes the need for /dev/log inside /var/empty and makes mandatory sandboxing of the privsep child easier down the road (no more socket() syscall required). Please test. -d Index: log.c =================================================================== RCS file:

Allow --without-privsep build.
I've been trying to cut down the size of openssh so I can run it on my Nokia 770. One thing which helps a fair amount (and will help even more when I get '-ffunction-sections -fdata-sections --gc-sections' working) is to have the option of compiling out privilege separation... Is it worth me tidying this up and trying to make it apply properly to the OpenBSD version? Does the openbsd

Privilege separation
Hello! Please consider including the attached patch in the next release. It allows one to drop privilege separation code while building openssh by using '--disable-privsep' switch of configure script. If one doesn't use privilege separation at all, why don't simply allow him to drop privilege separation support completely? -- Sincerely Your, Dan. -------------- next part

Solaris, socketpair and chroot
When using rsync 2.5.2 as daemon on a Solaris 2.5.1 box, I cannot copy data to rsync volumes with option 'use chroot'; I get the following messages on the client: pipe failed in do_recv rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at main.c(375) rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (69 bytes read so far) What seems to occur on the server is that socketpair(3) (not pipe(2)) is called,

Build failures: nanosleep on Solaris and AIX 4.2.x
Hi All. The recent changes to scp caused build failures on Solaris and AIX 4.2 which showed up on the tinderbox[1]. I mentioned the first to djm in email yesterday but I'm posting after finding the second, in case anyone else has seen similar problems. Solaris' nanosleep is in librt (or libposix4 in older versions) which is not linked. Adding them to configure works fine, however ldd

IRIX 6.5 patch for Compression with UsePrivilegeSeparation
Simon Cooper already mailed in a patch to get the effects of MAP_ANON on IRIX systems, but it was against openssh/3.3p1. I've reapplied his patach to openssh/3.4p1 and include it as an attachment. I haven't done this on the old, working machine. So there must be a difference between Debian 7 and 9 how open files are handled? improved atime patch
I posted a patch a few days ago that adds copying of atime. At that time, it was just enabled with -t/--times. After some time, we have figured out that that choice might not have been the best. Here's a new version of the patch (relative to CVS) that adds -A/--copy-atime instead. It also includes a test case. Any feedback on this patch and/or the previous one that I posted?

cygwin + rsync issue under Windows 7 x64
Friends -- I am posting this to both lists since I think it has to do with some kind of unfortunate interaction. The latest rsync (3.0.7-1) under an up-to-date cygwin on Windows 7 x64 gets into some kind of busy wait situation when transferring large files over ssh. rsync, ssh, and zip can all be consuming much cpu time. I downloaded and built rsync 3.0.7 locally, manually editing config.status

disable features
this (uncomplete) patch makes various features compile time options and saves up to 24K in the resulting ssh/sshd binaries. i don't know whether this should be added to the CVS since it makes the code less readable. perhaps WITH_COMPRESSION should be added, since it removes the dependency on libz -m Index: Makefile.inc =================================================================== RCS
