[patch/Cygwin]: Simplify host key generation in ssh-host-config script
Hi, as the subject says, the below patch just simplifies the host key generation in the Cygwin-specific ssh-host-config script. Rather than testing and generating each key, call ssh-keygen -A. Could somebody with checkin rights please apply? Thanks, Corinna Index: contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config =================================================================== RCS file:

getpeereid
Hi, I've just implemented getpeereid in Cygwin and I found that there's something I don't understand. In ssh-agent.c and in clientloop.c, getpeereid is used to ask for the effective uid of the peer side of the connected socket. So far so good, but why does the test look like this: if ((euid != 0) && (getuid() != euid)) ? Is there any good reason why root should be able

[PATCH]: contrib/cygwin/README
Hi, I have a small patch here which changes the Cygwin README file so that the following fact is mentioned. OpenSSH never uses $HOME to search for user config files but the value in the pw_dir field in /etc/passwd. This might be of minor interest for generic U*X folks but that's an important fact for Cygwin users. When /etc/passwd is automatically created under WinNT/2K it uses the values

Is support being removed for ordinary users to run sshd?
Hello Darren, Could you comment on this issue being raised by myself and Corinna Vinschen? This will create big problems for me. I'm not clear if this is a conscious decision supported by solid reasons or if it is just collateral damage. Thank you for all you work! Multiple log entries for successful pubkey authentication
Hi, I'm wondering if that's planned or just occuring accidentally. With OpenSSH 4.0 and the upcoming 4.1, I'm getting two entries in syslog when a pubkey authentication logon was successful: Apr 7 13:19:10 cathi sshd : PID 66116 : Accepted publickey for corinna from 192.168.129.6 port 40207 ssh2 Apr 7 13:19:10 cathi sshd : PID 67060 : Accepted publickey for corinna from

[PATCH] permanently_set_uid fails on Cygwin :-(
Hi, I'm terribly sorry that I missed this before 3.7p1 was out. The permanently_set_uid() function fails on Cygwin since the test to revert to the saved uid unfortunately works on Cygwin though it shouldn't. The reason is that a Windows NT process always can revert to its previous privileges. There's no such concept of giving up rights in a process permanently. This is only

Problem with ssh-copy-id when home folder contains spaces
Hi, some guy on the Cygwin mailing list found that ssh-copy-id chokes on directories with spaces, which are quite common on Windows. He also provided an easy fix, basically just adding quotes, which I attached to this mail. Would that be ok to apply upstream? [PATCH] Two Cygwin related patches
Hi, the attached patch file contains two patches in one: - contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config: Create sshd_config according to latest changes. - openbsd-compat/bsd-cygwin_util.c: Rewrite a bit to allow easier retrieval of Cygwin capabilities from version number (uname). For Cygwin versions beginning with API minor version 56 assume ntsec being on by default. Thanks in advance for applying

[PATCH]: Cygwin: Changes to cygwin contrib area
Hi, the following patch changes two files in the contrib/cygwin subdir: It changes the Cygwin specific README file which adds some hints related to the new feature to switch user context without password (which means using public key and/or rhosts authentication). Some old stuff is erased. The changes to ssh-host-config are intended to allow an easier startup for users which are new to Cygwin
