Best Linux for Asterisk
Hi Andy, I have had tremendous success running Asterisk on Slackware linux version 9.1. Its very quick to install and I had absolutely no problem compiling the source code for Asterisk or anything else so far. I have asterisk running on 2 servers right now that use Slackware. -James -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com

HostKey Management
Hi, As far as I can tell, when working in an environment with many servers, there seem to be several ways for your client to authenticate the HostKeys of each: 1) Set StrictHostKeyChecking=no, and hope you don't get MITM'd the first time you connect to a server. 2) Use SSHFP records (which generally requires you to have DNSSEC fully deployed to be meaningful compared to #1, I think?)

Adding SNI support to SSH
> Have you ever considered using ssh's proxy-command for this? > I have a similar setup, works great for me. I think the intended application is to proxy through a proxy host provided by the service provider. If SSH had a SNI like feature where a host identifier was passed in plain text during the initial connection. This way the user would just need to register their host identifier

Container setup?
Hi Patrick, thanks for the pointers. I tried today, and while it was easy to start my first container, I am not really happy with LXD, exactly for the reason St?phane gives in https://stgraber.org/2016/03/11/lxd-2-0-introduction-to-lxd-112/ "How does LXD relate to Docker/Rkt?"... what I really like about docker and docker-compose is, that it encourages to separate code from data and

FIML with missing data in sem package
Is there a way to use full information maximum likelihood (FIML) to estimate missing data in the sem package? For example, suppose I have a dataset with complete information on X1-X3, but missing data (MAR) on X4. Is there a way to use FIML in this case? I know lavaan and openmx allow you to do it, but I couldn't find anything in the documentation for the sem package. Thanks! -- Dustin Fife

Two Interface Setup + router problems II
Hey all, A while ago today I posted about not being able to get my two interface setup working with a router (di 652 wireless/wired). I recieved help from Tom and got everything in the router turned off and set it up as a switch rather then a rouiter, this still never corrected my problems. Use tcpdump I see there is alot of traffic, but as soon as I dhcpcd eth1 (local) I loose all outside access

bring back sub shells
Good day, I have a centos 4.4 box (all yumed up). Now i have a program that has a sub shell - meaning something like the mysql command line, where once started it takes it's own commands, etc and keeps running until a "quit" command is issued. Now what I was wondering - is there a way to fork it to the background (something like # command & or ctrl -z) and have the subshell keep

Vyatta ISO in DomU
A friend of mine recommended checking out the Vyatta project. I was reviewing their website and saw endorsements of their product running on both Vmware and Xen. In fact, they have a Vmware virtual image and a beta XenServer image. However, I am running a typical Debian Lenny 64 DomU installed through the repositories. According to their installation documents, it states that the ISO can be

[LLVMdev] invoke/unwind
I put invoke/unwind aside because I couldn't get them to work, but I'm working on my evaluator now and it would be nice to figure this out so I don't have to unwind the stack manually. This was the reason for my earlier question about global declarations, and as that's cleared up I can easily pass exception data...if I can make unwind return out of some deep recursion. The

Javascript Confirm for Form Value
How could I ask a user to confirm specific form input? EX: <%= f.submit ''Donate'', :confirm => ''Confirm your donation amount: ###amount###'' %> Where the ###amount### would be replaced with the amount entered in the form. [LLVMdev] Variable declarations vs. definitions
I have yet another question that I believe also stems from deep ignorance of the linkage types. How do you declare a global variable without defining it? The IR ref. clearly indicates that you can do this, but it looks like one of the many "too obvious to mention" things that I struggle with. It's easy with functions, of course: "declare @foo" in the header and

nsd 4.0 EAGAIN loop in sendmmsg(2)
On NetBSD 6.99.28-CURRENT, nsd 3.2.16 works fine, however nsd 4.0.0 is spinning chewing CPU. The logs show: Nov 28 23:07:00 xxx nsd[466]: sendmmsg failed: Resource temporarily unavailable ktruss shows it getting EAGAIN from sendmmsg(2) over and over again. According to the man page: [EAGAIN|EWOULDBLOCK] The socket is marked non-blocking and the requested

Can''t install Windows 2003 on SLES10SP1
I finally have a xen server to play with stuff that''s causing me problems on my production servers. One of those problems is simply installing Windows 2003. Here''s what I do: Open virt-manager set up a new install: full virt 512 ram 20 gig sparse file boot off /dev/cdrom The install starts as you''d expect. When it gets to the formatting I tell it to format in NTFS.

gem question on hosted service
All, This may be a gem question (not rails) but I feel sure someone else on this list has seen this issue go by. I use a hosting service that has ROR available, but I am among the few developers using it. I am developing on a local linux box, and have been very careful to NOT use any extra gems because I might have a problem with my provider. Well ... fastercsv rocks and I wanted to use it. My
