OpenSSH developers @ FOSDEM 2011
Hello,
I'm writing from OpenSC project (OpenSSH used to include OpenSC support for smart cards, it has been removed now and PKCS#11 is used instead, whish is nice), we're planning to have a "Security / hardware crypto keys" themed devroom at FOSDEM next year. Are people on this list interested in participating, and trying to tackle the problem of "Why OpenSSH does not work

Odd Size SSH data frame
I am doing a certain analysis with different kinds of traffic and SSH is one
of them. I am using SSH Version 2 on the complete test bed. Also, I am doing
in depth packet analysis and have landed up with some anomalies.
1. Out of Millions of packet there are about 5 packets that are of odd size.
The size is only the data frame size considered after the TCP header has
been removed. All other

OpenSSH daemon security bug?
A co-worker argues we can login using only password to a "ssh-key restricted
host (PasswordAuthentication no)", without being asked by any passphase; just
by putting a key (no need to be the private key) on another password-based
host.
It that true? I do not think so. I would name that as an "important OpenSSH
daemon security bug". That is because I think it is not true.

Re: how to install BackupPC on CentOS 5.2 -- how do I use Test repository?
Ok, downloading the BackupPC RPM directly did not work to myriad
dependencies and sub-dependencies.
How do I add the Test repository to my yum config, please?

R, geochemistry, ternary diagrams
I'm in e-mail contact with a geochemist who maintains a well regarded
geochemistry web site. He's drawing diagrams either with a Turbo Pascal
program running in a DOS window or with Excel. I'm trying to persuade
him that R would be a better choice. Something he's particularly keen
on is ternary diagrams. I think he is talking about ternary phase
diagrams, and if so, it looks as

Low level optimization
Hi to all of vorbis developers!
I think it is time to do core optimizations to vorbis-coder/decoder in
asm. I`d like to help. What you think about that?

Simple error handling in R
Hi R experts,
I am looking for a simple error handling approach, whereby I could stop
function execution with a customized error message. For example:
for (i in 1:10) {
if (i == 5)
# I'd like to be able to stop right here with an error message I have
complete control over
}
The problem with stop() is that I cannot control completely what gets
printed to the terminal, even with

UML Class and Object Diagrams in R
Hi all
Does anyone know if there are any R packages available for creating
UML class and object diagrams in R (suitable for use with Latex)?
I'm considering developing such a system...
Note, I'm aware there are Latex packages (so no one needs to state the obvious).
On a side issue I'm thinking about (mostly) abandoning the class
system I mentioned earlier. Thank you to Martin

proportional area venn diagrams?
In http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/14637.html
some rudimentary R functions were given for drawing
proportional area venn diagrams with area of each intersection ~ the
count in a 2 x 2 x 2 table.
I'm interested in this, for another application: showing the
correlations among Y, X1, X2 using
area ~ r^2 of each pair (sometimes called a Ballantine diagram).

Rose Diagrams
Hi,
Is it possible to create Rose Diagrams of wind data (speed & direction) with
R??

Using weighted.mean() in aggregate()
Dear R users, I have a question on using weighted.mean() while aggregating a
data frame. I have a data frame with columns Sub, Length and Slope:
> x[1:5,]
Sub Length Slope
1 2 351.547 0.0025284969
2 2 343.738 0.0025859390
3 1 696.659 0.0015948968
4 2 5442.338 0.0026132544
5 1 209.483 0.0005304225
and I would like to calculate the weighted.mean of Slope, using Length

How to plot more than 3 sets in Venn Diagrams?
I'm trying to plot Venn diagrams with more than 3 sets (5 actually) in order to describe graphically the genetic variation between populations.
I tried the limma library but realised it can only plot 3 sets.
Is there any solution? Of course I could plot the chart manually but it'll take too long (have other datasets)..... One of my dataset is given below.
THanks for any advice.

Randomly selecting n (unique) elements out of vector of length m...
Dear R users,
I wonder if there is a simple way to select a random and non-overlapping
subset of a vector?
Say, I need to randomly select 10 out of 100 numbers in a vector V. By
"non-overlapping" I
mean that a number in any position in V (V[1]...V[100]) should be
selected at most once
(i.e. selection without recycling).
I could simplu use a uniform distribution to generate selection

Sweave and optional document sections
Dear R and Sweave users,
Is there a way to have optional sections in a Sweave-generated report
document, complete with section header(s), text and code chunks? In other
words, I'd like for my report to include or omit certain sections based on
the data itself.
For example, If I examine the input dataset early on in the report and set a
variable has_daily_data = TRUE, then I'd like to
