Can't get past the splash screen
Hi, I have a remote frontend (it's kept in the room which I don't have access) which is installed with CentOS 4 and Rocks . So, to use the desktop(Gnome) of the frontend I use the freenx + nomachine following the guide in http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?forum=20&topic_id=1640&viewmode=threaded. It worked. Then, I intended to add user, but I couldn't create the

opennx wants to replace nxclient on all my CentOS 6 servers
Looks like opennx appeared in the extras repository some time recently. Because the extras repository is enabled by default, all of the servers where I have nxclient installed are showing opennx as available which will obsolete nxclient. I went ahead and upgraded on my laptop but the resulting opennx installation didn't launch properly. I'm now modifying my yum configurations

FreeNX : forward audio from server to client ?
Hi, I setup a FreeNX server with a GNOME desktop, and I can access it from a client with the NoMachine client. Everything is running fine, and now I only have two problems left : audio and printing forwarding. I'll follow the "only-slay-one-dragon-at-a-time" rule and take care of audio first. Did anyone manage to forward sound with FreeNX ? Here, server and client are using

Mac client to freenx?
Now that Mac lion/mountain lion versions of OSX don't support the old powerpc binaries like the NX 3.5 client any more, what is the best approach to connect to freenx on Centos - the new 'nxplayer' from nomachine.com, opennx, or something else? Google seems to show mixed opinions and quirks with each. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

R or C++ on FreeNX servers
Hi all, I have just found out that the machine learning group in our Faculty has a lot of spare capacity on their FreeNX servers. I do not know a lot about these beasts but I understand that they are a free version of something produced by a firm called "NoMachine". They are designed for executing parallel algorithms and I thought that they might be of use in a project of mine

FreeNX documentation and other miscellanea
I was having trouble connecting to the server that I am using for remote development so I updated things and rebooted. Connected into FreeNX nicely after that...wonder if there is issues with memory leaks or something... Anyway, it appears that the nxagent grabbed port 3000 which is what I was using for rubyonrails/webrick (I probably can change that) which sort of tells me that when I first

new freenx and nx RPMS released, manual action for x86_64
There are new RPMS released for nx and freenx in the CentOS-4 and CentOS-5 Extras repository. I normally do not announce that here, as those can easily be obtained on a normal "yum upgrade/update", however in this case there are special actions required *_IF_* you have the x86_64 architecture for either CentOS-4 or CentOS-5 with the current versions of nx and freenx installed. freenx
Hello, I am having problems getting freenx running in CentOS 4.5 i386_64. I know this is not a new problem, however, I havn't found a solution in all the postings I found on the web. I did exactly what is supposed to work and described in detail at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/FreeNX After doing that I can connect to the server with nxcleint without problem but I get only a black

Amazon AWS EC2, Ubuntu, Wine and a 3D App on remote desktop
I know what you're thinking - why?!? Im not going to go into detail, but in short why not! :D I have an industry app which I wont name yet, but is a relatively standard CAD-like 3D windows application. Im using x2go based on Nomachine/NX libraries for remote X desktop to Ubuntu. My 3D application tests for opengl or directx when it starts. At the moment when run with wine the

freenx in rootless mode and session resume anyone?
Hi I suceeded to run freenx on centos3 with the nomachine client, but I still have some issues. First I can only get a new whole desktop (kde) session. I cannot resume it, and it always leave tons of process that I have to kill from root. I don't need the whole kde desktop, and only want to have single windows. This is called the rootless mode I think and cannot make it work, it simply

Compiling OpenSSH with OpenSSL-fips 0.9.8o on Windows
My office is currently using WRQ Reflections as it was FIPS compliant. But this option is an expense that we'd like to get rid of if possible. Putty is not an option for us since it uses it's own OpenSSL libs and we need it FIPS enabled. I've been able to build OpenSSL 0.9.8o and enable the fipcanister.lib and create the openssl executables and libraries. I've been able to find

freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm is in testing
We have created a new version of freenx (freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm) and moved it to the testing repo. This is based on the code displayed at the LWE in San Francisco ... http://lwn.net/Articles/146825/ http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8489 (though it is not officially released as stable by the freenx people) This version should handle printing and reconnecting to running sessions much

Problems with x2go
I have installed x2goserver on a Centos8 server. Yesterday, after the installation I was able to connect by means of x2go. Today I get the following error ( /var/log/messages) /usr/bin/x2gostartagent[2677]: no free display number available, cannot start new session. Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks. Bye Stefano
