ps commandline option woes (-v weired formatting, more power for -m)
Two issues concerning ps commandline options.
1) -v option, cosmetic !
currently the formatting is very unsexy, makes this option
rather unusable, you can't easy follow the columns
2) -m option doesn't have precedence over other options
forcing the output to be memory sorted.
i.e. -u option implies -r (-r = sort by current cpu usage)
Now I find the output format of -u very

why mtd root device number is __makedev(0,254)
Hi,
I'm wondering when /proc/cmdline has "root=/dev/mtdblockX",
name_to_dev_t_real will return __makedev(0,254) for root device's device
number
which is weired. I think we need to create the device on the fly from
information in sysfs.
Maybe I have mistaken something. Is there any clue?

Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody
I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it.
If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works).
I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user.
Please find below some details.

fit data with y = x^-1
Dear list,
I am getting weired with fitting data with a 1/x-polynomial. Suggest I have
the following data:
x <- c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
y <- c(100,20,4,2,1,.3,.1)
I may fit this with a linear model
fit1 = lm(y ~ I(x))
Getting plot out of this model I applied
library(polynom)
pol1 = polynomial(fit1$coefficients)
f1 = as.function(pol1)
plot(x,y)
lines(x, f1(x), col = 2)
Clearly, this model

changes in rspec 2.4 break ci_reporter
Hi
I use the ci_reporter gem for builds on my CI machine (hudson).
Prior to rspec 2.4, environment options would override commandline
options. So the gem used this to change the formatter and require its
files.
In 2.4, that order has been reversed.
the thing is 2.4 supports multiple formatters, so there is another suggestion.

Thunderbird question
I was looking at the output of
thunderbird --help
and I see there is no cli arg that makes it
start with a specific profile (which can be any
one of n profiles) - unless I am not reading
the output properly :)
I am trying to avoid having to select the profile
when starting thunderbird on different worspaces
for different profiles.

(yeah dangerours!)
I have very little experience/knowledge with DECT and mainly where I
have seen it used in a multibase base situation where handoff between
