[PATCH] hostfile: list known names (if any) for new hostkeys
When connecting to a host for which there's no known hostkey, check if the
relevant key has been accepted for other hostnames. This is useful when
connecting to a host with a dymamic IP address or multiple names.

[patch] tell user about hosts with same key
The attached patch implements a feature that would make my interaction
with ssh somewhat more secure. When connecting to a host whose key is
not in the known_hosts file, this patch makes ssh tell the user about any
other hosts in the known_hosts file that have the same key.
For example, if I have host A in my known_hosts file, and try to connect
to host B which is an alias for A, ssh will tell

[PATCH] allow user to update changed key in known_hosts
Hi list,
I use ssh a lot and I often need to connect to hosts whose host key has
changed. If a host key of the remote host changes ssh terminates and the
user has to manually delete the offending host key from known_hosts. I
had to do this so many times that I no longer like the idea ;-)
I would really like ssh to ask me if the new host key is OK and if I
want to add it to known_hosts.
I talked

Proposal: Allow HostKeyAlias to be used in hostname check against certificate principal.
Howdy --
I have a number of servers with host keys validated by certificates.
These systems are behind a load-balanced frontend, and the
certificates are signed as valid for the DNS name used by that common
frontend address.
This works well for the primary use case of the systems; however, when
wishing to address only a single unit within the pool, the certificate
cannot be used to validate that

Chroot patch (v3.4p1)
The following is a patch I've been working on to support a "ChrootUser"
option in the sshd_config file.
I was looking for a way to offer sftp access and at the same time restict
interactive shell access. This patch is a necessary first step (IMO).
It applies clean with 'patch -l'.
Also attached is a shell script that helps to build a chrooted home dir on
a RedHat 7.2

r-cran-rgdal: dependency on libgdal1 unsatisfied in ubuntu 12.04?
Hi
I am trying to install the rgdal package through r-cran-rgdal (I had
added the ppa), and run into an error in Ubuntu 12.04:
r-cran-rgdal : D?pend: libgdal1 (>= 1.9.0) mais il n'est pas installable
in English, libgdal1 1.9 does not seem available in Ubuntu 12.04 (I
think version 1.7) comes.
And indeed, a:
$sudo apt-get install libgdal1
Gives also an error message, saying libgdal1

[PATCH] mention ssh-keyscan in remote host fingerprint warning
Hi, below is a patch to simply mention 'ssh-keygen' when a fingerprint
does not match between the known_hosts file and the remote.
I find that many people are unaware that ssh-keygen can do this for them.
adding a copy-and-pasteable message in the warning will make users
more aware.

openssh and nsswitch integration in FreeBSD
Hello!
I'm working on openssh and nsswitch integration in FreeBSD. I am lucky
to participate in Googles' Summer of Code and openssh+nsswitch
integration is the part of my project. I've almost completed the patch.
I'd like to describe some details here. I'll be glad to correct or
change some things if you wish.
The idea is to replace system-wide known-hosts file with

hashing known_hosts
Scenario:
I have access to a semi-public (about 30 users) server where I keep my
webpage. Occasionally, especially if I'm on the road. I use this as a
bounce point to get to "secured" systems which only allow ssh from
certian IP's. (Ignoring the discussion on spoofing, since we have host
keys)
But host keys are the problem. If anyone gets root on this hypothetical

[PATCH 3/12] bug fix: openssh-4.3p2 resource leak
The file descriptor f is not closed in this error path. This patch adds
the fclose as is customary in the rest of the function. This entire set
of patches passed the regression tests on my system. Resource leak bug
found by Coverity.

CentOS 5 Beta dual boot with FC7T2 (unsatisfying)
To test CentOS 5, I loaded from DVD adding it to
a system at home running Fedora Core 7 T2.
Partition Layout is:
/dev/hda1 - / for the RH7T2 system
/dev/hda2 - /home
/dev/hda3 - swap
/dev/hda4 - extended
/dev/hda5 - / for CentOS 5
The system loaded cleanly and gave me the
opportunity to tell grub about the other system.
CentOS boots fine. Grub Stage 2 will show me
both systems.
