Oracle database on zfs
Hi,
I am wondering if there is a guideline on how to configure ZFS on a server
with Oracle database?
We are experiencing some slowness on writes to ZFS filesystem. It take about
530ms to write a 2k data.
We are running Solaris 10 u5 127127-11 and the back-end storage is a RAID5
EMC EMX.
This is a small database with about 18gb storage allocated.
Is there a tunable parameters that we can apply to

bwinfo -u works getent passwd doesn't
Hi,
I have Samba 3.0.21b running on Solaris 10 with ADS authentication.
I get the following in log.winbindd when I do "getent passwd" but wbinfo -u
lists all the users.
Does anyone know why and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Vahid.

-e escape rule
Hello,
I'm using Ruby's Shellwords module, which generates a string from an
array, suitable for shell evaluation.
Ruby's implementation prefers escaping whitespace with a backslash
rather than quotes. However, this appears to cause some kind of issue
in Rsync when it computes argv from -e option.
Here is an example command generated by some Ruby code:
rsync --archive --stats -e

> Yeah, it only does space-splitting and that's all it will ever do. It still looks to me like there is a bug in the original escaping, since any command receiving that string is receiving a backslash that is not supposed to be there. It should only be escaping the string enough to get it to rsync, not trying to guess what rsync is going to do with it after it gets it.
I'm not

If you paste into your command line:
rsync -e ssh\ -l\ backup\ -i\ /etc/synco/id_rsa\ -o\
ConnectTimeout\\\=60\ -o\ BatchMode\\\=yes
The list of arguments would be (i.e. the values in ARGV):

Question about documentation for ConnectTimeout
Hello OpenSSH folks,
This was a really minor knit, but I noted while I was developing a
pexpect module for ssh that setting ConnectTimeout to 0 in the options
to ssh sets the login timeout to infinite time.
I was wondering whether or not this was a documentation bug and/or
potential clarification that could to be made, or if this was a
software bug that needs to be fixed. I don't see

directory synchronization
Hi all,
I can?t seem to get this working. I need synchronize the files from a remote
directory to a local, and then delete the files on the remote after getting
them to local.
This is what I did that does not delete anything on any of the servers:
rsync --rsync-path=/usr/local/bin/rsync -v -t ?r ?delete -e /bin/ssh
/report/today user at server01:/report/*.rpt
I also used --delete-before,

Is there a way to omit the text printed out by issue(5) on some

cpu frequency scaling in domUs
Hi,
I''ve recently installed xen-3.2.1 on my AMD Sempron(tm) machine.
It runs gentoo 2.6.21 as dom0 and cpu frequency scaling works in dom0.
But inside a domU, cpu frequency scaling is not working.
By checking the boot log in domU I found that domU is unable to load the
powernow driver:
"powernow-k8: BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI _PSS objects"
I wonder if it is possible to have

Support for CPU frequency scaling in Xen
Hi,
Does Xen provide support for CPU frequency scaling?
If there exists such support, from which version they support it?
Otherwise what problems do exist in support frequency scaling in Xen?
Thanks,
Vahid

Need help getting two NICs to work on CentOS 7
Hello all
Here is the scenario: We have a mail server VM which currently has two
virtual NICs attached to it. One NIC is has an IP on a subnet with a
default gateway defined and the other NIC has an IP on a different subnet
with a different gateway on a different VLAN defined. Now when I activate
both NICs, and run an ifconfig -a, I see that both IP addresses are
showing. Now here is the
