Failure to Launch (was override -q option)
Attached is the very verbose ssh output. Just to be perverse, this time two
nodes lost connectivity. The only thing I see is lines saying that the two
connections are lost, although being honest I have no idea what everything
else means. For reference, 8 ssh cinnections were being made at the same
time for a 8x8mpi task.
N.B., since the OS I am using does not have rsh, I am currently using the

ssh-agent and id_dsa
Hi!
I am distributing 2.5.1p1 for production use on my system by now and prepare
switching to protocol 2 as default protocol.
I just noted, that ssh-agent can be used for protocol 1 and 2, but the
keys kept in ssh-agent are not compared against keys in .ssh.
Example: I have a DSA key in id_dsa which I load into ssh-agent on login.
When connecting to an account accepting the key everything is

Problems using sftp on HMC IBM system
Hello friends,
I am having some problems using sftp to reach a HMC IBM system. The

UseLogin under AIX 4.3.3
Hi,
If I enable "UseLogin" under AIX, I get the following message upon
login:
/dev/pts/2: 3004-004 You must "exec" login from the lowest login
shell.
The manpage states:
"In order to preserve the integrity of the system, only one session at a
time is
allowed to be logged in to a port. This means that the login command
entered

weird behaviour of commands option : bug or not ?
Hello
I think I've found a bug but since no one replied to me on comp.security.ssh,
I'll try my luck here.
On my client, PreferredAuthentications is set to publickey, password.
When using the commands option in authorized_keys file like
command="ls" ssh-dss <key>... it is supposed to connect using the private key
associated with <key>, perform ls and then quits.

Where to look next?
Hello,
I'm looking for your insight about the log below. We have an SFTP server (IBM Sterling File Gateway) and we're connecting from an OpenSSH SFTP client but something fails during KEX.
Complete client-side debug output is below, but I believe the relevant part is:
debug1: kex: server->client cipher: aes192-cbc MAC: hmac-sha1 compression: none

OpenSSH v6.7 & NumberOfPasswordPrompts Option ...
Greetings,
I discovered an issue in the latest version of SSH, where the number of password prompts are doubled. If I specify 1, I get 2, and so on.

OpenSSH v6.7 & NumberOfPasswordPrompts Option ...
Yes, I have tried that option with no difference in behavior. It seems it ignores that option when provided. Just for reference, I am building it on RedHat 5. I have never had this issue on any previous version of OpenSSH. I use the default configuration with only the changes specified in the RHEL 5 STIG applied.
I appreciate the security advice. The root account was indicated simply as an

happy new years ssh key problem :)
Hi List,
Happy New Years and I was hoping to get some help on an ssh issue
that I am having. For some reason I am unable to scp to hosts on this
network using RSA keys. Here is what I am doing/what is going on;
scp the public key to remote host
[amandabackup at VIRTCENT18 ~]$ scp ~/.ssh/id_rsa_amdump.pub amandabackup at lb1:~
amandabackup at lb1's password:

Only one chance to enter a new password?
Hello there,
We are using OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004 on various
Solaris boxes with PAM and an LDAP server back end.
Recently we have added a requirement for users to have complex
passwords. The problem is, if a user's password has expired, when they
log in they are prompted for a new password (good) but if they enter a
non-complex new password the session is closed rather than

Where to look next?
Thanks for your suggestion! It seems to have gone a little further this time, but isn't accepting the key and is failing back on password-based auth.
We're double-checking that the public key was correctly configured with the account, and also trying a DSA key to see if it behaves differently.
Is there anything you'd suggest we look at or try at this point, and thank you very much

number of items to replace is not a multiple of replacement length
Hello,
I'm a complete newbie to R so sorry if this is too basic..:-S
I have to modify some scripts someone else did to make it work with my data.
For some reason, one of the scripts which were supposed to work is not, and
I get the error message "number of items to replace is not a multiple of
replacement length".
The script is this one:

Question regarding Host keys.
Hi,
I'm having a problem when I add "HostKeyAlgorithms +ssh-dss" to the
ssh_config file the host key will always negotiate to a wrong one. In my
case it will negotiate to "ecdsa-sha2-nistp256". The client was already
configured with the servers rsa public key, before the change I added to
the ssh_config file I could see from the debug that server and client will
negotiate

X11 forwarding does not work as normal user
We installed openssh 3.1p1 on our Solaris 2.8 machine using gcc 2.95.2. During
the installation, we modified ssh_config and sshd_config to enable X11 and
agent forwarding.
In sshd_config, we changed the following line to read:
X11Forwarding yes
In ssh_config, we changed the following two lines to read:
ForwardAgent yes
ForwardX11 yes
Both files are set to permission readable

Winbind, Kerberos, SSH and Single Sign On
Hi,
at first I'm not sure if this is the correct list to ask this question.
But since I'm using winbind I hope you can help me.
I try to realize a kerberized ssh from one client to another. Both
clients are member of subdom2.subdom1.example.de and joined to it. The
users are from example.de, where subdom1.example.de is a subdomain
