OpenSSH 4.3p2, MIT KfW 3.0 and Cygwin
Has anyone successfully built openssh with MIT's KfW (Kerberos for Windows) under Cygwin? Is it even possible? Searching around I found one reference to Nicolas Williams attempting to do this several years ago, but no indication of success and nothing more recent. http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2002-01/msg00100.html What about compiling openssh using a native windows compiler? [PATCH]: Cygwin: Allow sshd to switch user context without password
Hi, the following patch checks if OpenSSH is running under a Cygwin version >= 1.3.2 which allows switching user context without password. Otherwise sshd allows changing the user context only if password authentication is used as it was before. [PATCH] Two Cygwin related patches
Hi, the attached patch file contains two patches in one: - contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config: Create sshd_config according to latest changes. - openbsd-compat/bsd-cygwin_util.c: Rewrite a bit to allow easier retrieval of Cygwin capabilities from version number (uname). For Cygwin versions beginning with API minor version 56 assume ntsec being on by default. Thanks in advance for applying

Initial patch to implement partial auth with SSH2
Attached is a patch which adds a new config option, AuthOrder2, to sshd_config.c. The syntax is: AuthOrder2 AuthMethod1[:SubAuthMethod1[:SubAuthMethod2...]][,AuthMethod2...] An example, requiring users to enter a public key _and_ a password, in that order: AuthOrder2 publickey:password The current default behaviour: AuthOrder2 password,publickey,keyboard-interactive Require a public key,

[patch/cygwin] contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config
Hi, would you mind to apply the below patch? It fixes Cygwin's ssh-host-config script in various ways: - Remove old code to remove the "sshd/22" entry from /etc/services. This code fixes a problem which only existed in installations which are more than 10 years old. - Handle the StrictMode setting interactively. - Fix regular expressions looking for white spaces. - Make the

[PATCH]: Fix a bug in contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config
Hi, the following patch fixes a wrong path in a chown command. The additional leading slash collides with accessing SMB shares using double slashes as in "//server/share" on Windows systems. [PATCH]: contrib/cygwin/README
Hi, I have a small patch here which changes the Cygwin README file so that the following fact is mentioned. OpenSSH never uses $HOME to search for user config files but the value in the pw_dir field in /etc/passwd. This might be of minor interest for generic U*X folks but that's an important fact for Cygwin users. When /etc/passwd is automatically created under WinNT/2K it uses the values

building hpa tftp under cygwin?
First- I'm admittedly a newbie both to the cygwin environment and to the hpa tftp. My apologies if this is the wrong list to ask this question. If so, slap me around a little.... I tried to build tftp-hpa under cygwin. The 0.37 version throws errors during the ./configure process, warning about winsock2.h and winsock.h being present but not buildable. The 0.36 version appears to

[patch/cygwin]: Fix documentation
Hi, could somebody with checkin rights please apply the below patch? It modernizes and improves readability of the Cygwin README file (which hasn't been updated for ages), drops unsupported OSes from the ssh-host-config help text, and drops an unneeded option from ssh-user-config. Thanks in advance, Corinna Index: contrib/cygwin/README

[PATCH]: Change Cygwin contrib files to better support PrivSep
Hi, the following patch patches the files in contrib/cygwin. The changes are necessary to allow a better support of privilege separation. On NT machines the script asks now if it should create a user called "sshd" and all that. Additionally it creates the /etc/ssh_config and /etc/sshd_config files follows the latest versions. Would you mind to apply this to the official OpenSSH

[PATCH] Update Cygwin service installer script for new Cygwin release
Hi, the below patch is necessary for the contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config script to work on Cygwin 1.5.x as well as on the new Cygwin 1.7.x. The information given for the setting of the CYGWIN environment variable is wrong for both releases so I just removed it, together with the unnecessary (Cygwin 1.5.x) or wrong (Cygwin 1.7.x) default setting. Could somebody with checkin rights please apply

[PATCH]: Add check_ntsec to ownership/mode tests
Hi, I have added calls to `check_ntsec()' to the code which checks for the ownership and modes of identity files and directories. As you might know, check_ntsec() tests if owner/modes are supported by the OS (9x/ME=no, NT/W2K=yes), the filesystem (FAT/FAT32=no, NTFS=yes) and the current Cygwin settings (ntea/ntsec). [PATCH]: Cygwin: Changes to cygwin contrib area
Hi, the following patch changes two files in the contrib/cygwin subdir: It changes the Cygwin specific README file which adds some hints related to the new feature to switch user context without password (which means using public key and/or rhosts authentication). Some old stuff is erased. The changes to ssh-host-config are intended to allow an easier startup for users which are new to Cygwin

GSSAPI Key Exchange Patch
Will Simon Wilkinson's GSSAPI Key Exchange patch ever be incorporated into the OpenSSH source? http://www.sxw.org.uk/computing/patches/openssh.html I'm sure I'm not the only one that uses it and would like to see it become part of the OpenSSH source. Is there something missing or is there some technical/philosophical reason for not including it?

Move servers public/private keys to a new host
Is it possible to move a server's public and private keys from one host to another? Or perhaps a better way to ask what I really want... is it possible to configure a server on a new host to return the same public key it did on the old host? I'm in the process of migrating our CVS server from a Solaris host to a Linux host (this weekend) and I just realized the hostkey is going to

Rsync, Cygwin, & SSH: ntsec OR nontsec?
Hi all, Thank-you to all the developers for rsync. It is very well done. I have rsync running on various platforms connecting to the same server and all is good. Except for 1 Win2000 Prof. server. I backup several directories with various permissions and users successfully. However, there are 2 directories that even though the permissions are the same as other directories that are

[PATCH]: Add features to Cygwin's ssh-host-config script
Hi, I have added two features to the ssh-host-config script which is used in Cygwin installations to prepare the host based OpenSSH configuration. Now it cares for a /var/log/lastlog file if it's not already installed (Thanks to "Karl M" <karlm30 at hotmail.com> for that patch) and it now asks the user if s/he wants to install sshd as a NT service and, if so, installs it.

ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
I'm randomly getting the following error on a server from various remote hosts: ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host The server is running OpenSSH 4.5p1 w/GSSAPI Key Exchange patch. The hosts connecting to it should all be using OpenSSH 5.0p1 w/GSSAPI Key Exchange patch and using gssapi-keyex authentication. Normally, when I've seen this error, it means
