mongrel stand alone for small site
Hello,
I just completed my first rails app. I''m currently signed up at
HostGator with a shared account. I noticed that they run their rails
apps with just the mongrel (non Apache load balanced/clustered)
server. I''ve read some mixed information about mongrel. Some say its
ok by itself, some say no. For a small site with maybe 500-1000 hits a
month, will the mongrel service by

Does anyone know anything about this "0-day" ssh vulnerability?
Hi all. I've looked at the archives and it seems to be quiet regarding
this supposed "0-day" openssh vulnerability and I'm wondering if anyone
here may have some insight or further information regarding it.
We've been monitoring things and the amount of speculative info flying
around is incredible. Some claim it's the CPNI-957037 issue, thus
affecting <5.2, others

[HELP] RoR Fedena App Installation: Rake Gem
I''m really a newbie with RoR.
But I need to deploy this app as soon as possible.
RoR App: Fedena
RoR Ver: 1.8.7
When I type any rake commands I always encounter this problem:
rake aborted!
uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::Dependencies::Mutex
Locally, I did find the solution for this problem by downgrading my Rake
Gem version from 0.9.2 to 0.8.7.. The problem is installing it on

OpenSSH and CBC
Hello,
I saw that OpenSSH release 6.7 removed all CBC ciphers by default. Is
CBC therefore considered as broken and unsecure (in general or SSH
implementation)?
I also read a lot of references (see below) but still not clear to me
what's the actual "security status" of CBC and why it has been removed
in general.

rebooting more often to stop fsck problems and total disk loss
Hi,
I run several hundred servers that are used heavily (webhosting, etc.)
all day long.
Quite often we'll have a server that either needs a really long fsck
(10 hours - 200 gig drive) or an fsck that evntually results in
everything going to lost+found (pretty much a total loss).
Would rebooting these servers monthly (or some other frequency) stop this?
Is it correct to visualize this as

Call for testing: openssh-5.2
Hi,
OpenSSH 5.2 is almost ready for release, so we would appreciate testing
on as many platforms and systems as possible. This is primarily a bug-fix
release, to follow the feature-focused 5.1 release.
Snapshot releases for portable OpenSSH are available from
http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/
The OpenBSD version is available in CVS HEAD:

I''ve just deployed my RoR app to a host that uses dispatch.cgi instead

The repodata directory is currently broken on several, if not all, mirrors for the 6.5 iso files
The repodata directory on all 6.5 isos that I have sampled have an issue where the file names don't have extensions resulting in a yum repo error on installation just after disk partitioning. This error prompts you with the choice between either allowing you choose another repo or to exit the installer. I remedied this issue with the following:
