Disabling Password authenitication with SSH
Hello everyone,
We are setting up a server at work, and we have run into something that
I am not sure how to resolve.
We have set up sshd (OpenSSH server) on the machine. We have placed ssh
keys into each user's home directory that needs to access the system
(and they work). We want to disable everyone from logging in, using a
password, utilizing ssh keys only to access the system.
I have

ssh as root with and without private key
Hi.
I have a client machine using ssh as root via key authorization to a
server. The client uses rsync to send backup data to the server. I
use ForceCommand to allow only this activity when using key
authorization.
But I also want to be able to ssh as root with a required password to
do whatever I like.
So I thought that in addition to root, I'd make a rootback account:

pam_close_session for ssh as root
Hello,
I have a question.
Why do I have pam_close_session with every user but not with root?
Can I configure this in sshd_conf?
Best regards

Winbind, Kerberos, SSH and Single Sign On
Hi,
at first I'm not sure if this is the correct list to ask this question.
But since I'm using winbind I hope you can help me.
I try to realize a kerberized ssh from one client to another. Both
clients are member of subdom2.subdom1.example.de and joined to it. The
users are from example.de, where subdom1.example.de is a subdomain
(bidirectional trust) of example.de and

ssh trouble checklist
Hi.
There should be a checklist of everything that can go wrong with
making an ssh connection.
Here's one entry for the list, which I didn't know before, and
* I couldn't see the problem from the -ddd and -vvv output, and
* there were no /var/log/* file entries to give hints.
Here's what I did
sudo kill <pid-of-sshd>
/usr/sbin/sshd
No good.
Usually I did kill

Prompt for chrooted users
Well, I seem to have resolved most of this. In the end I had to
create a separate logical link for the chrooted users' home
directories that pointed back to their actual directory. It sounds
confusing because it is.
I first tried this in sshd_conf
ChrootDirectory %h
and in ~/%h I had created the following mount points:
bin dev etc lib lib64 tmp usr
Upon which I had hung mounts to

CopSSH changes directory permission
Hi,
I am seeing a strange behavior on windows XP pro with CopSSH installed.
Every time I run
the activate.sh and create a ssh account and subsequently when attempted
to delete the folder or any files in the folder windows doesn't seem to
allow any change to the directory.
To fill in some background info here's what I am doing. I am changing
the root directory for the SSH user by changing

Still no joy: no X11 protocols
Hello,
I know this is likely to give me a brute force attack hit,
but the only thing anyone can accomplish by ssh-ing to my machine
is to provide me with a tunnel into your machine. So don't bother.
Anyway, my server machine is running this:
/usr/bin/ssh -X -R ${port}:localhost:22 -o BatchMode=yes \
-o StrictHostKeyChecking=no ${user}@${my_home_machine}
On my local machine:
ssh -vvv -X

Provide AcceptEnv variables to a Linux PAM module?
I've been looking for a while and can't figure out for sure if variables
allowed by AcceptEnv are readable by a PAM module. I looked through the
openssh source code and found a few calls to pam_putenv(), which looks
like the relevant call, but I don't see anything that would copy over
AcceptEnv variables. Am I correct that the variables are not available
to PAM? I'm

Winbind, Kerberos, SSH and Single Sign On
I can suggest a few things.
krb5.conf ( if you use nfsv4 with kerberized mounts _
[libdefaults]
ignore_k5login = true in
But, it does not look like it in you logs your useing kerberized mounts.
Im missing in SSHD_config :
UseDNS yes
And the defaults :
# GSSAPI options
GSSAPIAuthentication yes
GSSAPICleanupCredentials yes
Are sufficient for a normal ssh kerberized login.

Telnet and SSH login problems with Red Hat Enterprise ES4
Hello
We have successfully set up Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES4 and we are now
trying to connect remote clients to connect to it.
The problems we are having are as follows:
a) If we set connect with telnet, we get the login prompt. If we
use any valid login name & password combination (including root), we get
the response "Login incorrect" and then the login prompt comes back.

Samba4 SSH SSSD-AD Problem
Hi,
I'm having a problem with ssh and sssd in a samba4 ad environment.
If I logon a linux client everything works fine. When entering klist I'm able
to see my ticket. When I try to connect/logon to another linux client with ssh
it is possible, but klist shows:
klist: Credentials cache file '/run/user/$UID$/krb5cc/tkt' not found.
So the ticket cache is not created during

Custom PAM module not working correctly
Hello,
I've developed a custom PAM module which only allows a user to
authenticate to the server only if another user of the same machine
also authenticates succesfully. It's currently a simple module which
also works as a PAM aware application since it authenticates each user
with PAM itself. Both the pamtester utility and su can use this module
correctly. However, when I try to use
