ibuf_empty delayed efd
I'm seeing something unusual in 5.0p1. Let me start by saying that I'm
on kind of an oddball
system (HP NonStop).
What I'm seeing is that at the end of an scp session, the server gets
stuck in a loop.
First I see a shutdown failure, followed by looping on an "ibuf_empty
delayed efd 9/(0)" condition.
This may have to do with some minor semantic differences in the way the

[8.0p1] After the remote ssh command execution, the session does not terminate until an active disconnect
Thank you for the reply.
I changed the remote command to a generic example because in our case, we
are using an internal binary that I didn't want to make public. I thought
it wouldn't matter, but apparently, it does. I am sorry I can't share more
about this tool.
BTW, our environment is based on FreeBSD, not on Linux. In our case,
because "isatty" is set to 0, it never

4.6p1 chan_read_failed error
The 4.6p1 sshd is logging this error during remote commands or file
transfers:
error: channel 0: chan_read_failed for istate 3
Platform is Solaris 8, 4.6p1 + OpenSSL 0.9.8d.
The commands and transfers work correctly, so the error message appears
to be spurious. The error message does not appear when processing logins.
Otherwise 4.6p1 is running without any apparent problems. This error

"ERR sshd: error: no more sessions" issue
Initially send this mail to user group. then realized this is more apt
place. Apologies for posting in both groups...
Hi all,
We're using openssh version 4.7p on our linux 2.6-22 kernel.
We have a Java based GUI that opens a secure shell connection to this linux box.
To do something over the connection, the GUI opens a session (some
times 3-4 simultaneous sessions) & once done, it will

[8.0p1] After the remote ssh command execution, the session does not terminate until an active disconnect
Hi,
We recently upgraded OpenSSH from 7.5p1 to 8.0p1, and received a report
that there was a behavioral differences where the ssh session did not
disconnect after a remote background command execution. For example, "ssh
user at example.com 'tail -f /var/xxx &'
After looking at the debug logs and comparing the code, it seems there was
a bug in the portable version during the

ssh(1) multiplexing rewrite
Hi,
At the n2k10 OpenBSD network hackathon, I finally got some time to clean
up and rewrite the ssh(1) client multiplexing code. The attached diffs
(one for portable OpenSSH, one for OpenBSD) are the result, and they
need some testing.
The revised multiplexing code uses a better protocol between the master
and slave processes and I even bothered to write it up :) It tracks the
control sockets

SCO 3.2v4.2 and OpenSSH -current --> connection hangs and does no t close
Greetings,
I have a problem with OpenSSH -current and SCO 3.2v4.2,
when I execute a remote command or exit from a session,
the connection hangs, ( line 326 of serverloop.c).
This problem only exists when using ssh2.
server side debug (-d -d -d ):
debug1: Received SIGCHLD.
debug2: channel 0: read failed
debug2: channel 0: close_read
debug2: channel 0: input open -> drain

internal error: we do not read, but chan_read_failed
Hello,
The error message in the subject line occurs with the new 2.3.0 openssh
version and appeared in the previous snapshots on our Solaris systems. As far
as I remember it was reported, but have not seen any more about this. I have
looked into it a little bit.
First, the file session.c (line 1849 onwards):

possible clue on tcp forwarding problems
When I encounter the problem with TCP port forwarding locking up, I'll
see this on the client window (if I haven't invoked ssh with -q):
chan_shutdown_read failed for #1/fd6: Transport endpoint is not connected
chan_shutdown_read failed for #1/fd6: Transport endpoint is not connected
This is with Blowfish encryption. I have to kill and restart the client
when this happens.

Work around Linux kernel bug provoked by nchan.c
The Linux implementation of TCP sockets has a bug which causes
shutdown(sock, SHUT_RD) to fail spuriously (ENOTCONN) if the write
side of the socket has already been shut down. If you are using SSH
port forwarding to tunnel HTTP through a firewall, nchan.c will tickle
this bug once for every HTTP exchange. You will therefore get lots of
useless, annoying error messages:

Open connections when using agent-forwarding
Hi!
I have problems with connections being left open with both 2.2.0p1 and the
latest snapshot when using agent-forwarding. (I didn't use this with older
versions, so I don't know whether this problem is older.)
Scenario:
I have a secret key that I run with ssh-agent on host "host-A". I then connect
to "host-B" using 'slogin -A host-B'. When executing a

sftp client
As of Sunday evening, OpenSSH has an interactive sftp client. It should
be in the more recent snapshots.
It would be appreciated if you could test new client and find all the
bugs :) Please also have a read of the manpage and ensure that it
matches what is implemented.
I am working on fixing the ones that I know about, so please try to
stay up to date with the snapshots.
Thanks,

SSH connection hanging on logout
I am running OpenSSH 2.9p1 on SunOS 5.7 w/4-24-2001 patch cluster.
Like many other users I am seeing the hanging session on logout
with background processes. This is a huge problem for me as
I centrally manage 50+ machines with rdist across ssh.
Instead of just complaining about the problem I thought I would
put my CS degree to use and try to track down the problem myself.
For starters,

OpenSSH problem report on Linux 2.2.14.
I have been using OpenSSH for a while, and I would like to thank you
for the great package.
Here is a report of mysterious warning message lines, I get while I
use OpenSSH.
They don't seem to be serious, but annoying nevertheless.

Small bug in mux_master_read_cb()
I'm looking at the code from CVS as of May 21. The statement to allocate the
mux state is allocating the size of a pointer, instead of the size of the
struct being pointed to. The bug is benign in the original code because the
struct has only an int element inside it, but it would corrupt memory if the
struct were to be extended.
Simple fix here:
