Samba 3.4.2 on Solaris 9 build problem
Hi, I'm trying to build samba 3.4.2 on Solaris 10 using SunStudio 12 but I've hit a snag. The configure line used was: CFLAGS="-xcode=pic32 -KPIC -m64 -I/ec/sw/samba/openldap/current/include -Iec/sw/samba/krb/current/include" \ CPPFLAGS="-xcode=pic32 -KPIC -m64 -I/ec/sw/samba/openldap/current/include -I/ec/sw/samba/krb/current/include" \

Exim as default MTA?
Yes, I've been reading /. :) But this isn't the first time this has occured to me. With all the security vulnerbilties, would it be unreasonable to either change the default MTA from sendmail to Exim/Qmail/Postfix, or give people the option of installing something instead of Sendmail at install time? -- Avleen Vig "Say no to cheese-eating surrender-monkeys"

Install with 64-bit GCC 3.2 (PR#2048)
Hi, been trying to build R-1.5.1 for som eof our users here. No probs with gcc-3.2 32-bit installtion, but thought we'd try it with the 64-bit just for the crack. Configuring thus CC=gcc3 CFLAGS="-m64" CXX=g++3 CXXFLAGS="-m64" F77=g773 FFLAGS="-m64" LDFLAGS="-m64 -L/usr/local/packages/gcc-3.2/lib/sparcv9" ./configure

[LLVMdev] building LLVM (question about ELF class)
Hi, Thanks for the replies in the mailing list. I made some progress in building LLVM, but I still have a problem about ELF class. I am working with LLVM on a sparcv9 machine, while the gcc is configured to emit 32-bit binary by default. After executing "configure --with-llvmgccdir=... --enable-jit", I modified Makefile.config so it contains CXX = g++ -mcpu=v9 -m64 CC := gcc -mcpu=v9

IPFW logging brokeness?
I don't think I'm trying to do anything amazing, but IPFW's logging features are giving me a real headache. I can't find much in the archives either, but I find it hard to believe others havne't found this too. My rule: add 100 allow log tcp from any to <my IP> <ports> limit src-addr 2 I want connecting parties to be able to form no more than 2 connection. This

Hard Solaris 8 compile
We currently have a samba install on Solaris 8 providing a front-end to a Rational ClearCase system. Because of some recent changes, we are having Kerberose issues in validating files (too many open files). After some research, I found that the best way to resolve these is to re-compile samba as a 64bit application to increase the open file restrictions on a Solaris 32 bit app. The problem I am

Compiling Matrix on Solaris 10 x86-64 Sun Studio 12
Hi all, I have trouble to compile Matrix packages on Solar10 x86-64 with Sun compilers. I saw some postings on this but am not sure how to solve this problem. It is becoming critical as I cannot install biocLite() because of its dependency on Matrix. Could you direct me how to resolve the issue? Thanks in advance! puppet dashboard and 64-bit mysql
I was looking forward to trying this out, given the puported Solaris support. However, in attempting to install the prereqs for dashboard, I hit a major snag. My main server uses the blastwave MySQL install, which is a 64-bit version of MySQL 5. mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.90, for pc-solaris2.10 (x86_64) Apparently the mysql bindings for ruby don''t like the 64-bit version. Building R on Solaris (OpenIndiana) with gcc 4.6.2 for amd64 target - relocation problems solved
Hello, the "R Installation and Administration" handbook states in Section C 5.1: For ?amd64? the builds have failed to complete in several different ways, currently with relocation errors for libRblas.so. To fix it: add '-shared' to the SHLIB_LDFLAGS, SHLIB_CXXLDFLAGS and SHLIB_FCLDFLAGS before starting configure. So the complete set of variables' values sufficient to

Will 5.4 be an "Extended Life" release?
In the next month or two I've got to upgrade a number of servers that are currently on an EOL'd version of 4-STABLE. I foresee that I'll have very limited time to do full OS upgrades on these systems in the coming several years, so I want to make sure I bring them onto an extended-life branch. Right now 4.11 has the furthest projected EOL date (Jan 31 2007), and the projected EOL

Difficulty Compiling RSQLite on Solaris x86 Using Studio 12 Compilers
Apologies if this is not the best list on which to ask for help. I have compiled R 2.6.0 using Sun Studio 12 compilers. I can install most CRAN and bioconductor packages that I need, with the exception of RSQLite. Unfortunately this is critical for other packages that I need. I have tried to compile it using R CMD INSTALL to generate a config.log file. I don't know how to fix the reported
