ControlPersist.
This is a better approach to persistent control masters than my previous attempt. Instead of forking before we make the connection, do so only when the original session has closed -- much like the code for '~&' backgrounding already does. My earlier patch for 'ControlPath none' still applies and is required, btw. --- openssh/clientloop.c~ 2005-06-17 03:59:35.000000000 +0100

Password protection
Hi, I would like to request password protection in syslinux. I know that it has come up a few times on the mailing list (google for "site:www.zytor.com syslinux password"), and on http://www.zytor.com/pipermail/syslinux/2002-May/000421.html you say interesting things about COMBOOT images. So I was wondering if I could bring that feature request to your attention again :) grub has it,

IdleTimeout patch did not get in?
Doing a search in the list archives, I see that in 2001/2002 there was a patch made available for IdleTimeout keyword, for example: http://marc.info/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=99838019319356&w=2 Looks like that patch did not make it in the following versions of OpenSSH - is there a reason why - any chance of the patch getting back in? I do know about ClientInterval, but I think I need

[PATCH] fix for Linux hang on exit bug in 2.9.9p2
As you are now probably aware, the portability team for openssh still has not fixed the hang-on-exit bug in the 2.9.9p2 release. Attached is a patch for 2.9.9p2 that fixes the hang-on-exit bug for Linux systems. It also adds a useful exit delay feature that has also not yet been incorporated into the main sources. For more information, see the SNFS (secure NFS) web page:

Winbindd and idletimeout on the LDAP server
Hi We have a problem with samba (winbind) when we enable idletimeout on the OpenLDAP servers. If it is set we sometimes get an error: mhansen@scenic32:~> smbclient -Umhansen //cups/p6 Password: session setup failed: NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT The log entries (log.wb-DOMAIN)on the DOMAIN MEMBER server (cups in this case) are: [2006/11/20 14:24:07, 0] rpc_client/cli_pipe.c:rpc_api_pipe(790)

A question on idletimeout for OpenSSH
Hello.. I would like to know if there is a keyword in OpenSSH analogous to IdleTimeout for SSH1. Is there the ability to configure an idle timeout in OpenSSH? PATCH: implement delay (sleep) after last tunnelled connection exits
Here is a patch to implement a handy new feature proposed by John Hardin <johnh at aproposretail.com>. This is his description of the feature: New option for OpenSSH: Delay before exit. Command line option: -S delay Config file option: sleep {delay} Purpose: Wait the specified number of seconds after last traffic before dropping the connection and exiting. If ports are forwarded, this

[PATCH]: Patch to fix hang on exit bug under Linux and add optional exit delay
The hang-on-exit bug still hasn't been fixed in OpenSSH-3.0p1... :-( Here again is the patch to fix this bug under Linux, updated for OpenSSH-3.0p1. This has been exhaustively tested for six months now. It also add an exit delay option that can be useful. The patch does not lead to data loss under Linux. Please see the Secure NFS page (SNFS) for further details:

Idletimeout patch
While I was updating our ssh-servers, I rewrote my old patch that adds idletimeout (just like in old ssh1) parameter to openssh. Since reapplying the patch for all new versions of openssh is not fun at all, I would like to have it included in the official openssh, if you consider the patch worthy. Unlike ClientAlive, idletimeout works for both protocol versions. It also works together with

Auto-compress mode for ssh
Hi, I looked in the archives, but didn't see this asked for before: Would it be possible to have an "auto-compress" mode for ssh where compression is turned on automatically if it makes sense? You could turn it on if you don't care about cpu usage and lag, but just about the speed of transfer. The way I see it working is that when running uncompressed, ssh turns on

RFE: idle timeout/auto-daemonize combo
Hi there, I would like to have SSH connections be more "sudo-like". With that I mean, when I ssh/scp/sftp to a host and disconnect, the channel is held open for a while in case I reconnect. I wrote a script (attached) that does this. It starts a master SSH daemon for the connection if needed. Then it exec()s SSH. Just put it in your path and use perssh instead of ssh. It has some

Idletimeout patch, third attempt
Here is my third attempt at the idletimeout patch. I tried to address the points which Marcus Friedl brought up. It is actually bigger than the previous patches, but not as intrusive. It is big because it moves some stuff from serverloop.c to packet.c. - I moved all the logic to packet.c. This means that I also had to move the actual select() call, which used to be in serverloop.c to packet.c.

Problem trying to chainload Intel pxe boot loader
Hi, I'm trying to use pxelinux to start Linux and optionally other things, maintained by windows folks. They use the Intel pxe boot loader, bstrap.0, and when I load it with a "kernel bstrap.0" statement, it fails. The reason it fails is because it can't find the !PXE data area. I guess it doesn't get the correct pointer or something along those lines. Do you think it

ControlPersist and multiple X11 forwarding.
Good afternoon! I've been looking for a way to avoid having to keep my "master" ssh session open while I have others open. This is particularly a pain when my "master" is an scp connection. After searching the archives, I came up with this thread "ControlPersist and multiple X11 forwardings." However, I can't find anything saying that it was

Improve ControlPersist documentation
Hi, While testing the ControlPersist option (which is very useful by the way, thank you), I find out that setting it to 0 has the same behaviour as setting it to yes, while I would have expected to exit as soon as the last client exits. I'd like to make this behaviour clear, I think it should be documentated in the man page for example like this: $ cvs diff -u ssh_config.5 Index:
