Load at 5, no CPU I/O or swap in use
We are currently running CentOS 5 update 4 on a Dell R910 server 16 cores/32 hyperthreaded with 64GB of memory. It is our main Oracle 11g DB server for one of our customers and is attached to an MD 3000 storage array. We are having a load averaging around 5 but see no swap in use, CPUs are pretty much idle and no I/O wait. We have Oracle dataguard turned on in transactional mode. I've checked

Your message Re: Samba and printer comments (July 5 1999)
Yes unfortunately I do not have much luck recieving help from the SAMBA mailing list. After much playing I found something weird that was seemingly causing incorrect comments. Most printers would recieve the comment - "no entries" which originally I assumed to be the default comment given by Win95 when it could not get a proper comment. However I later found that this is not the case.

[PATCH/cygwin] Fix cygwin specific Makefile and a bug in the ssh-host-config script
Hi, could somebody be so kind to check in the follwoing patch? It fixes two problems: - contrib/cygwin/Makefile: Installs new docs and stops trying to install RFC.nroff. - contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config: Fixes a condition which tries to find out if ssh or sshd processes are still running. The old version unfortunately stumbles over user names which contain the substring

Problem with xen on Centos-4.4?
I am running a Xen installation on a Centos-4.4 based test box, my desktop unit, and I am having intermittent problems installing certain pieces of software. Some time back I posted to this list regarding my inability to install Adobe Acrobat on this unit and was advised to essentially repackage the software and try again. This is beyond my present means of knowledge or time to acquire same and

Match Statement in sshd_config
Hello Portable OpenSSH Team! I recently read the man-page of sshd and found: The Match-Statement. Which maybe could solve the problem i have. (Get freeNX running on my UbuntuBox and connect to it with the Windows-Client just using PublicKey Authentication ) But unfortunately the documentation of the Match-Statement refers to the PATTERN section, which is non existent :-( After a little bit of

Merging labels on Pie chart
Dear R Help Members, I need to draw a pie chart for someone and there are 3 small slices in it identifying different species, all 0.7%, who’s labels overlap so you cannot read them. Is there a way to have only 1 label the three slices, so as to merge the three labels into one without merging the 3 slices? Alternatively, is there a way to extend the pointing lines, so that they could be different

Exit status strangeness
Hello, Trying to get Oracle DataGuard running, which basically does a lot of work between two replicating databases via rsh/ssh. It is breaking because it pays very close attention to the exit status of ssh commands. We are using OpenSSH 2.5.2p2 (also tried 2.9p1, same result) on Solaris 7 and 8. This seems to be Solaris specific, because I can't reproduce it on Linux. I've

Creating users "on - the - fly"
I guess I didn't want to litter the users table either - it just seems "wrong" to be actually adding things to the host when it is really so transient. It feels like it should be LDAP-ish. Just ask the server for the keys and do a one-off authentication. But I've seen even LDAP creates the user directories. I see that 2.6 kernels can have some 4B users, which should last me a

Mann Kendall mutation package?
Hello - does anyone know whether there are any packages for Mann-Kendall mutation tests in R available? DNS Server Recommendations
Hi All: I am looking for some possible recommendations on the handling of our internal DNS services. First some background... Until recently our entire network was located within a single facility with internal DNS services provided by our CentOS 4.7 (using BIND). While I had problems with DHCP/DNS communications it was basically working. At the beginning of the month we moved the production

mean fold change issues and p values
I am new to R and have two scripts written slightly different but should to relatively the same thing but my lack of experience with the program I can not figure out the what I need to do to correct it. The first script gives me a consistent mean fold change values with every run but can generate negative p values for some. For the second version of the script, the fold changes seem to be very
