Bug in Ossh3.5p1
We use OpenSSH 3.5p1 on an embedded system.
OpenSSH is configured to not permit password logins, /etc/ssh/sshd_config:
...
PasswordAuthentication no
...
At the same time, since there is no console and no way to "log in" other
than by ssh, /etc/passwd has an "open" root account:
root::0:0:root:/root:/bin/sh
nobody:x:65534:65534:nobody:/tmp:/usr/bin/bash

Manual Page for ssh_config
Hello,
I am using OpenSSH on a FreeBSD box
(OpenSSH_3.5p1 FreeBSD-20030201, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090701f)
and I noticed that the manual page for ssh_config probably needs to be
fixed. The manual page says that the default value for the parameter
HostKeyAlgorithms is "ssh-rsa,ssh-dss" but that seems to be wrong,
because ssh only uses RSA-Keys in my .ssh/known_hosts if I

Forcing privileged ports with ssh -R

I have a daemon process which is changings things in the system only the
superuser should be allowed to change. Lets call it "riskyd".
Users use a frontend on the same machine (lets call it "risky"). risky

I'm having a problem with connecting to my MySQL database.
Each time I try to connect

password="my_password", dbname="name_of_db")
it says

SCP Problems.
Just added myself to the list, and I saw that somebody else had the same
problem that I have, namely that I can't get "scp" to work. The similarities I
could see was that we both use linux as the platform for issuing the command
"scp", however I also use linux on the destination. The other similarity is that
we both are using strictly version 2 of the ssh protocol. I've

Need help regarding perl sys::virt
Hi,
I wanted to use perl Sys::Virt (which uses libvirt) to remotely connect KVM hypervisor. As a start I tried following simple script(KVM.pl) but I am getting following error.
First it will ask for authentication which I am providing to it manually then it fails. Do I need to do some configuration on KVM hypervisor before executing this script? Any help is appreciated.

Listening only on localhost
Hi!
I've got dovecot 1.0.rc15.
I want dovecot to listen only on localhost for imap, and on any interfaces for imaps. So I put the following into my config:
protocol imap {
listen = 127.0.0.1:143
ssl_listen = *:10993
..
}
dovecot -n correctly reports:
listen: 127.0.0.1:143
ssl_listen: *:10993
But I can still do a 'telnet MY_HOST 143' from the outside,
and 'netstat -pltn |

OpenSSH_3.5p1 server, PC clients cannot connect
I have setup an OpenSSH_3.5p1 ssh/sftp server on my
SunOS 4.1.4 box. I can ssh to it just fine. The problem
is SFTP from certain clients.
I can SFTP to it using my OpenSSH_3.5p1 sftp client. I
can SFTP to it from MacSFTP from MacSSH.org, version 1.0.5.
However, I have several clients that cannot connect. I have
had them try CuteFTP Pro v2, v3, WS_FTP Pro v7.62, PuTTy
pSFTP. None are able to

Futzing with TaskScheduler
Hi all,
Thought I should say something - it''s been a little while. :)
Anyway, I''m still futzing with how I want the Ruby API to look. The more I
look at the Perl version, the more I think it was too faithful to the C API.
Right now I''m looking at the trigger() method. For example, I don''t see
any reason to make the "type" key take a hash as an

ssh-3.5p1 core dumps on Solaris 2.6
Hi,
I've reported this problem a month ago on this list, and probably no-one
is interested? Binaries were configured with krb4 and afs enabled.
However, only the second crash seems to be related to krb4.
Any thoughts?
I had to add one line to includes.h:
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <sys/socket.h>
#include <sys/ioctl.h>
