Fwd: Decision Stats
Dear Lists,
Here are my latest posts on retrenching and locating facilities better. Do
you have anything in academic papers that use data mining- analytics for
1) Better Employee ROI quantitative measurement or cutting costs rationally
based on data rather across the board.
2) Locating facilities based on pure quant based approaches than local
supply demand conditions.

Problem with large NIS groups - Samba 2.2.8
Hello from the Military-Industrial Complex!
We're a large defense contractor located in East Hartford, CT, USA. US
export
laws make us 'kind of' concerned about who gets in here and what they can
access. We've got a problem with some of the groups that we have in our
NIS
database. Everyone who logs into our Sun system is assigned to one of
several
groups for export-control

Unable to get recycle to work
I have this one remaining issue before I can declare my Samba rollout to be
successful. I have been trying to implement the recycle feature. My server
is a Dell Intel, with Redhat Enterprise 3.0 Linux and Samba 3.0.14 (I
believe I have all the string and the periods in the right place).
Here is the recycle configuration I have for a share, as my test:

Disconnect Supervision, SBC, and Adit 600
Can anyone help me with the term that SBC uses to refer to disconnect
supervision? I have an Adit 600 channel bank which has helped improve the
disconnect detection time down to about 8 seconds. This is still causing some
issues in particular with call progress on we are having a few disconnects while
calls are in session.
I have talked both to some local phone contractors and SBC directly and

[Bug 80] Host key conflict with two servers on one IP
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80
------- Additional Comments From eric-ossh at brouhaha.com 2002-08-22 04:57 -------
This "HostKeyAlias" business seems like a flimsy excuse for not implmeenting a
feature that users want. In this age of ubiquitous firewalls and NAT, it is NOT
reasonable to assume that two ports on the same IP address refer to the same
host, or to the

find canonic host name [SECURITY VULNERABILITY]
I reported a bug recently to the debian bug tracking system but I just checked
this mailing list and it seems it was already mentioned here. However the
thread seemed to have died. This is worrisome because it's rather a severe
security vulnerability.
OpenSSH seems to have changed behaviour to canonicalize host names _before_
looking up keys in known_hosts. This is BAD. AWFUL. TERRIBLE.

User access to subfolder of restricted share
Hello List,
I am relatively new to Samba. I've recently installed an instance on
our server (local authentication, utilizing libpam-smbpass), and have
successfully created a number of employee accounts. The setup we're
going for is to give all employees access to a general "projects" folder
(all have access to all items in the share), but with the ability to

hi,?
I'm working on a research project where we're looking at the changing resonances in femur bones during hip replacement operations. basically, I've got a spreadsheet with one column listing frequencies in 5Hz bands and 3 columns showing the amplitude of that frequency when the bone is loose, medium to tight (referring to the tension of the reamer/chisel creating a cavity for the

Where to look next?
Thanks for your suggestion! It seems to have gone a little further this time, but isn't accepting the key and is failing back on password-based auth.
We're double-checking that the public key was correctly configured with the account, and also trying a DSA key to see if it behaves differently.
Is there anything you'd suggest we look at or try at this point, and thank you very much
