I pressed <enter> as empty for both the filename identity and passphrase then sent the public key to A under .ssh and saved as authorized_keys (the first time I sent the key I got message: The authenticity of host 'hostname (host ip)' can't be established) Now if I run scp from B to A, I ALWAYS get password (of the A host) prompted! Which I don't want. ***** Frustrated, I

Automation of public/private key generation
Hi all, I wrote a small script (developed and testet on Solaris 8), which automates the generation and installation of the steps needed to put keys in place. I you are interested to take it, feel free to do it. -- *** Freundliche Gruesse **** Best regards *** Anton Burkhalter Dipl. El. Ing. HTL Mobile:+41(0)78 844-0290 mailto:anton.burkhalter at gmx.net

New configuration scripts for Cygwin
Hi, I have attached two new shell scripts `ssh-host-config' and `ssh-user-config' which will replace the script `ssh-config' in the next Cygwin OpenSSH release. Could somebody with write access please remove contrib/cygwin/ssh-config from the OpenSSH repository and add these two attached files instead? The third attached file is the diff for contrib/cygwin/README. Thanks in

scp hangs
Hello, When running scp (from openssh-3.4p1) on our linux systems we are experiencing hangs after authentication. According to the debug messages, authentication succeeds but the file itself is not transferred. Openssh is built using OpenSSL 0.9.6d. The command scp foo 192.168.1.111:/tmp will hang until the connection times out. Below are the client and server side logs. An strace of the

OpenSSH doesn't see keys.
Ok, I have OpenSSH installed on two servers. I SSH to server 1. On server 1 I ssh-keygen. I give it an empty passphrase. scp identity.pub to server 2. On server 2 I cat ident > authorized_keys on server 1 I ssh -l user server I asks for the password. If I give it the login it works. Now, I have SecureCRT on my windows machine and it connects to server 2 using a key just fine. Any clues?

passwordless ssh
Hi, I am just migrating to Centos from fedora core 3. I have 3 boxes involved here: Box A --Fedora 3 (doing the dns, http, sendmail serving duties) Box B --CentOS Box C --CentOS I used to run root passwordless ssh both ways from boxes A and B mainly set up to keep the 2 boxes in sync w/rsync ... these 2 boxes normally ran one being the slave and the other being the master...the master did all

SSH Automatic Log-on Failure - Centos 5.5
Hallo, I wanted to avoid typing-in my password every occasion I remotely logged-on to a server. I created my SSH keys and copied the public part to the server and renamed it authorized_keys. My command line is: ssh root at xxxxxx.com -p 1234 The output shows the logging-on routine wants 3 types of authentication. Surely one successful authentication is sufficient ? OpenSSH_4.3p2, OpenSSL

2.2.0p1 PATCH: ssh/scp/slogin will invoke ssh-askpass
Enclosed is a patch against 2.2.0p1 that teaches ssh (and therefore slogin and scp) how to invoke ssh-askpass to request a password, RSA/DSA key passphrase, or an skey challenge response. I've tested this on Linux (i386), for passwords and RSA/DSA key passphrases. I cannot easily test whether the Right Thing will happen for skey challenge responses; I would appreciate it if someone who uses

OpenSSH_2.9.9p2 Configuration problem
I've recently upgraded some of my machines from an ssh1 environment to an openssh one, and consequently, I'm now using the ssh2 protocol. I can't seem to get it to allow remote logins without prompting for a passphrase or password. Is this possible? I've created id_dsa and id_rsa files etc., using ssh-keygen and have copied the public information to the remote authorized_keys

openssh client on Windows 7 key auth issue
Dear All, could anybody be so kind and explain me such situation: I set up OpenSSH client on Windows 7. Then I generated keys pair by 'ssh-keygen -t dsa' and with empty (no) passphrase. Then I inserted appropriate info into authorized_keys file on my Unix host. But when I try to connect to my Unix host 'ssh' asks for passphrase for 'id_dsa' and than wants to authenticate

ssh-agent asking for passphrase on non-keyed connections
I'm running into some odd behavior that I can't figure out that I'm hoping someone can help me with. After years of SSH usage, I've decided to exchange one laziness for another and use ssh-agent. However I'm running into an odd instance where ssh is asking for the passphrase to my key stored in ~/.ssh/id_dsa when attempting to connect to a machine with nothing in
