Telnet and SSH login problems with Red Hat Enterprise ES4
Hello
We have successfully set up Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES4 and we are now
trying to connect remote clients to connect to it.
The problems we are having are as follows:
a) If we set connect with telnet, we get the login prompt. If we
use any valid login name & password combination (including root), we get
the response "Login incorrect" and then the login prompt comes back.

Picking up on a couple really old threads (e.g.
http://osdir.com/ml/ietf.secsh/2001-09/msg00003.html ) I've finally gotten
around to this. The EXTPROC support on Linux is missing, but you can find
kernel patches for that here
http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/6/11/403
I've also fixed up the netkit telnet / telnetd code to work with EXTPROC /
LINEMODE on Linux, those patches are here

Possible bug: SSH doesn't prefer host keys listed in SSHFP records while connecting.
Well, SSHFP is supposed to only be used on DNSSEC-enabled domains.

ssh -R option
Dear list,
I'm relatively new to using ssh. I'm trying to use the -R option to set
up a forwarded port between two machines. Specifically I'd like to be
able to ssh to machineB from machineA and then have a port on machineB
that I can connect to machineA with. If my understanding is correct I'd
need a command like:
machineA> ssh -R 10000:machineA:23 machineB

The footgun is unrelated to shells.
The SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_REQUEST protocol message for "exec" (RFC 4254)
channels which are used to run a single remote command contains
exactly one string for the command.

Possible bug: SSH doesn't prefer host keys listed in SSHFP records while connecting.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Run a SSH server with default configuration and point a domain to it.
2. Add SSHFP record to the domain, but only for Ed25519 key.
3. Attempt to connect with VerifyHostKeyDNS set to yes, but the rest
of settings set to defaults.
4. OpenSSH defaults to ECDSA instead of Ed25519 and refuses connection
because there is no ECDSA fingerprint in SSHFP records.
A stopgap solution

Future deprecation of ssh-rsa
I've expressed several concerns with enabling UpdateHostKeys by default,
none of which were even commented on, so this topic seems to not be in
any way open for discussion, but I'll still add one more thing here.

DNAT or NAT - QUESTION
Hi, I have a simple question. I have my firewall with 2 external Ip and 1
lan.
For example
ISP1
FW LAN----Mail Server
ISP2
Ok, when i DANT the smpt port to my mail server, I can see that the
conection in my mail server comes from the external IP of my ISP.
I need to change this so the conection to my mail server cames from the LAN
IP from my firewall
Is this possible?

ssh server hangs the port even if client machine shuts down
Hi,
I have the following problem with ssh, hope someone can help me with it:
I have 2 processes of ssh server on same Linux machine. One of them is
the normal ssh configuration for Linux, the other one starts with a
custom configuration on another port.

server: ssh -R 1037:localhost:55555.

Very nice trick. Requires a modified/bespoke client, of course, but it's
definitely a very powerful approach. I'm going to have customized
clients in some use cases anyway; I'll have to think about whether I can
use this in some cases.

Which is better? Microsoft Exchange 2016 or Linux-based SMTP Servers?
Dear Promise Kumalo,
Thank you for the recommendations.
So for Exchange equivalents in the Linux world, it is Zimbra and Kolab.

can't send email from my new centos 8
Hello to all!
I apologize in advance, for the following could be too simple, but I can't
figure it out.
I configured a vps using centos 8, all is working fine but I'm not able to
send email from this server.
I tried
$ telnet smtp.mailtrap.io 25 but it doesn't work
yet
$ telnet www.google.ca 80 does work
and particularly
$ telnet smtp.mailtrap.io 2525 does work too.
I temporarily

Usage of a telnet client instead of ssh or rsh
Hi all,
i am building an authentification system based upon MIT kerberos.
I set up a realm in which I can use the ftp and telnet server/clients
infrastructure for the purpose of authentification. To backup my server
i would like to use rsync, but instead of a ssh/rsh/stunnel with an
encrypted kerberized telnet.
My problem is, that i could connect manually via telnet.krb5, but if
like to use it

[RFE] Multiple ssh-agent support
Howdy!
I've been working on a prototype that allows to do ssh-agent forward
between a guest, using SPICE, and a spice client
(remote-viewer/virt-viewer/spicy)
The whole idea is to have something similar to "ssh -A guest", but
integrated with the desktop environment.
As a proof of concept I wrote a standalone ssh-agent that _unlink_ the
current running agent in the guest machine and

Are there OpenSSH library coding examples
Hi-
Apologies in advance if this is off-topic, but I've been
unable to find any coding or usage examples on how to open a
SSH client to a remote server. I'll happily RTFM if I can just
find the FM (!). The client environment is x86 Linux 2.6.x,
the remote SSH servers will be on proprietary embedded devices.
My current application uses a socket interface and select()
