Can not login with key-exchange is chrooted sftp environment
Hi, We need to allow log in based on public key generated using ssh-keygen (rsa key) for SFTP with chroot (internal sftp). I am not able to log in with just key exchange. I can login using password. I am able to log-in with out password for an ssh session unlike sftp session. Is there a way to login with key-exchange only for internal-sftp with chroot? Here is the trace OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL

SSH connection hang after upgrade
I recently had to upgrade my version of OpenSSH from 4.7 to 5.0p1 on my MacBook (Darwin). I installed the latest 'portable' tarball and removed the system version: $ ssh -V OpenSSH_5.0p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7l 28 Sep 2006 $ which ssh /usr/bin/ssh sshd is the same version, installed in /usr/sbin/sshd. Now, things are a bit broken: I am able to ssh from another machine into my MacBook, so the

ssh hangs up
Hi All, I set a cron to connect to a a server in every 10 minutes. Sometimes it hangs up and I can not find why. (Once or twice a day) I tried to set ServerAliveCountMax 3 and ServerAliveInterval 15 in ssh_config without any success. The only way to continue is killing the ssh process. How can I solve this? Any other ssh option that could help? What happens or should happen when it hangs?

Re: ssh between DomUs in Xen3.2
Hi Waldirio: I tried telnet earlier from one DomU to another [root@localhost ~]# telnet 192.168.17.201 22 Trying 192.168.17.201... Connected to 192.168.17.201 (192.168.17.201). Escape character is ''^]''. and then it just hangs... So it looks like I can connect to the port from DomU to DomU. But from Dom0 to a DomU [root@gxn-wn2 ~]# telnet 192.168.17.201 22 Trying

OpenVMS SSH password expiry woes continue
I sent in a patch a week or so ago for a problem a customer of mine was seeing when trying to connect to their OpenVMS system with an 3.8.1p2 OpenSSH client (running on a linux box or in cygwin) and trying to login to an account who had an expired password. The problem continues although now it has nothing to do with what my patch handled as they have since upgraded their SSH software on the VMS

question on using keys
I've read man ssh and man ssh-keygen and some howtos and still am not getting what I expect. I can do ssh john at 192.168.15.3 and login with a password OK. I want to be able to do that with keys in preparation for running rsync with keys, so I created a key on router1, the machine I want to ssh from. routem at router1:~/.ssh$ lla total 20 drwx------ 2 routem routem 4096 2009-03-08 09:55 .

Possible issue with stdio forwarding
Greetings, I've been doing a little testing with the stdio forwarding support added in recent snapshots and have encountered one possible issue. First, I should say that this feature generally seems to work. However, I haven't been able to get it to work when connecting to a server running SSH.COM's product. The config file I am using is fairly simple: Host sfe1 LogLevel debug3

PATCH: krb4/krb5/... names/patterns in auth_keys entries
This patch (to OpenSSH 3.0.2p1) adds support for using krb4, krb5 and other principal names in authorized_keys entries. It's a sort of replacement for .klogin and .k5login, but it's much more general than .k*login as it applies to any authentication mechanism where a name is associated with the ssh client and it supports name patterns and all the normal authorized_keys entry options

bug(?) with OpenSSH 4.4+ and large DSA ID keys
Please pardon me if this is the wrong place, or operator error/ retardation is involved. Any help is sincerely appreciated. fatal: mm_request_receive_expect: read: rtype 12 != type 24 For some reason, three (two OpenBSD/i386 and one OpenBSD/sparc64) of my four identically-configured SSH daemons cough up the above error when I try to authenticate using a big (4096-bit) DSA key from the

possible bug: OpenSSH appears to freeze on exit
Hello, I believe I may have discovered what appears to be a small anomoly in the way OpenSSH closes connections and thought if I gave you some feedback I might be able to make a very small contributution to the development of openssh. This might be a Solaris 2.6 anomoly or an openssh anomoly or a combination of both. I came across this apparent anomoly because we use openssh (via cron) here to

ssh trouble checklist
Hi. There should be a checklist of everything that can go wrong with making an ssh connection. Here's one entry for the list, which I didn't know before, and * I couldn't see the problem from the -ddd and -vvv output, and * there were no /var/log/* file entries to give hints. Here's what I did sudo kill <pid-of-sshd> /usr/sbin/sshd No good. Usually I did kill
