sum(..., na.rm=FALSE): Summing over NA_real_ values much more expensive than non-NAs for na.rm=FALSE? Hmm...
I'm observing that base::sum(x, na.rm=FALSE) for typeof(x) == "double" is much more time consuming when there are missing values versus when there are not. I'm observing this on both Window and Linux, but it's quite surprising to me. Currently, my main suspect is settings in on how R was built. The second suspect is my brain. I hope that someone can clarify the below

double in summary.c : isum
Hi, Please consider the following : > x = as.integer(2^30-1) [1] 1073741823 > sum(c(rep(x, 10000000), rep(-x,9999999))) [1] 1073741824 Tested on 2.15.2 and a recent R-devel (r62132). I'm wondering if s in isum could be LDOUBLE instead of double, like rsum, to fix this edge case? https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/src/main/summary.c Thanks, Matthew

Build failure on powerpc64
Do note that 3.6-patched will only be live for a day or two as we branch for 4.0.0 on Friday. Anything committed there is unlikely to make it into an official release (in principle, the 3.6 branch can be revived but it would take a very strong incentive to do so.) If you want an R-3.6.3-for-ppc, I think a vendor patch is the way. AFAIR (it's been more than a decade since I looked at this

Speeding up sum and prod
Looking for more ways to speed up R, I've found that large improvements are possible in the speed of "sum" and "prod" for long real vectors. Here is a little test with R version 2.11.1 on an Intel Linux system > a <- seq(0,1,length=1000) > system.time({for (i in 1:1000000) b <- sum(a)}) user system elapsed 4.800 0.010 4.817 > system.time({for (i

[PATH 9/12] VTPM mini-os: New stubdom applications
This patch ports 5 new applications to the stubdom makefile structure for inclusion into stubdom domains. While these are required for vtpm-stubdom and vtpmmgrdom they could be used with other stubdom applications. -libgmp 4.3.2 -openssl 1.0.0a -polarssl 0.12.1 -berlios tpm_emulator 0.6.1 -vtpm_manager (from the tools directory) Signed off by: Matthew Fioravante

LLVM Bay-area social durring LLVM Dev Meeting
Hi, I see that LLVM social meeting is planned for upcoming thursday 3.11. Because it is in the same day as LLVM Dev meeting, would it be more convenient if it would be in San Jose this time? Historically, we haven't had the social during the dev meeting because there's usually a reception :) On Mon, Oct 31, 2016 at 11:53 AM, Piotr Padlewski via llvm-dev < llvm-dev at lists.llvm.org> wrote: > Hi, > I see that LLVM social meeting is planned for upcoming thursday 3.11. > Because it is in the same day as LLVM Dev meeting, would it be more > convenient if it

authconfig-gtk-6.1.9-1.fc14.i686.rpm missing durring URL Install ?
Hello, This is a rather strange problem. I am using the i386 netinstall CD to boot and do a URL (HTTP) install since my machine only has CD drive and can't boot from USB either. During the install, the installer was looking for package authconfig- gtk-6.1.9-1.fc14.i686.rpm and claims that it's missing. I checked the RPMs under packages, and for sure it wasn't there. But look at the

Fourteen patches to speed up R
I've continued to work on speeding up R, and now have a collection of fourteen patches, some of which speed up particular functions, and some of which reduce general interpretive overhead. The total speed improvement from these patches is substantial. It varies a lot from one R program to the next, of course, and probably from one machine to the next, but speedups of 25% can be expected in

smbclient and large file support
smbclient (and smbtar) in version 2.2.7a (and prior) has problems with large files (> 4GB). The following patch (against 2.2.7a) fixes all known problems with this. This code has been checked into the CVS tree in all branches as well. -- ====================================================================== Herb Lewis Silicon Graphics Networking Engineer

Disconnecting: Bad packet length
Hi, I'm trying to get OpenSSH to work on Solaris 10 wich Sun C 5.8 compiler (SUNWspro 11). I've compiled OpenSSL 0.9.8a without problem and OpenSSH 4.3p2 as well. When I try I always get an error [user at compilationserver ~/openssh-4.3p2]

TLS negotiation from client fails after openssl upgrade
Is anyone using dovecot on Fedora fc5-devel? I had to rebuild my rpm of alpha4 due to dependencies when I pulled in openssl-0.9.8a (with a whole bunch of other updates). Now when I start my mail client (balsa) it tells me it "Cannot connect to the server: TLS negotiation failed". Dovecot wrote in maillog: "imap-login: Disconnected: rip=1.2.3.4, lip=1.2.3.4, TLS". Does
