OO model style: inheritance
Hi everybody
I am totally new to rails and I am trying to start a
tiny project to get familiar with rails. But I already
got my first problem and I would be happy if somebody
could point me in the best and cleanest direction.
I am trying to develop a small gallery app. Since I
would like to add more features in future I am trying
to design a clean OO architecture of my models:

floppy problems after DOS booting with dos.bss and syslinux 3.xx
Hello,
I'm Rene living in Germany.
I have a problem when I use syslinux versions greater
than 3.xx for booting DOS (over dos.bss) and DSL-linux
from a hard disk. (I've tried version 3.11 and the
newest 3.36). The problem occurred after booting DOS -
I can not access to the ordinary 3.5'-floppy drive
(e.g. the command "dir a:" fails after a while). DOS

[LLVMdev] llvm for macho/x86 target
Hi Jackob,
X86 / Darwin support is actively being worked on. It's very new which
means you must check out the source from CVS and build your own
binary. If you can live with the lack of vector support and the
occasional bugs :-), I would urge you to do so and share us with your
experience.
Cheers,
Evan

Easy to Access Telephone Directory AGI
I've written myself a easy to use telephone directory
which I use at home and thought it may be of interrest
to others.
The purpose of this agi script is to provide an online
telephone directory that can be easily accessed using
the numbers on the phone dial pad.
You select entries by spelling out the name of the
person you want to contact using the phone dial pad.
Now this is normally

matching country name tables from different sources
Hi,
Before I reinvent the wheel I wanted to kindly ask you for your opinion if there is a simple way to do it.
I want to merge a larger number of tables from different data sources in R and the matching criterium are country names. The tables are of different size and sometimes the country names do differ slightly.
Has anyone done this or any recommendation on what commands I

Heteroskedasticity in Tobit models
Hello,
I've had no luck finding an R package that has the ability to estimate a
Tobit model allowing for heteroskedasticity (multiplicative, for example).
Am I missing something in survReg? Is there another package that I'm
unaware of? Is there an add-on package that will test for
heteroskedasticity?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,

ServerSide ACLs for -L type port forwarding
I have a need to add some server-side ACL functionality to the way ssh
handles port forwarding. For a first pass, I want to be able to
restrict -L port forwarding to localhost on the server only and I want
to be able to specify the ports on Server.
I was wondering if there would be any desire to incorporate said changes
back into the main development tree? If so, are there coding guildlines

Call for testing: openssh-5.2
Hi,
OpenSSH 5.2 is almost ready for release, so we would appreciate testing
on as many platforms and systems as possible. This is primarily a bug-fix
release, to follow the feature-focused 5.1 release.
Snapshot releases for portable OpenSSH are available from
http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/
The OpenBSD version is available in CVS HEAD:

lme model: Error in MEEM
Hi,
We have data of two groups of subjects: 32 elderly, 14 young adults. for
each subject we have 15 observations, each observation consisting of a
reaction-time measure (RT) and an activation maesure (betadlpcv).
since we want to analyze the influence of (age-)group and RT on the
activation, we call:
lme(betadlpcv ~ RT*group, data=our.data, random=~ RT |subject)
this yields:

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of
your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition
live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out.
The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am
quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate

metaMDS using Dissimilarity matrix
Hello R-user community!
I am running R 2.7.0 on a Power Book (Tiger). (I am still R and
statistics beginner)
Presently I try to run the function metaMDS (vegan) using an existing
dissimilarity-matrix.
As I would like to start with this matrix I thought I could just give
the matrix using the x= -argument
Test<-metaMDS(x=Dist.Gower)

I am an active FLAC user and like the program a lot! Thanks for your
great work. Since I am not a developer I cannot modify the program on my
own.
Maybe you might be interested in features I would find useful. Maybe others
find them interesting as well and you find the time to implement them.

[PATCH] global port forwarding restriction
Here's another patch for people providing ssh access to restricted
environments.
We allow our users to use port forwarding when logging into our mail
servers so that they can use it to fetch mail over an encrypted channel
using clients that don't support TLS, for example fetchmail. (In fact,
fetchmail has built-in ssh support.) However we don't want them connecting

Restrict port forwarding on server
Hi,
Is there a way to restrict port forwarding on the server?
I want only port 8080 on the server to be available to clients.
Example when i give this command clients should be able to connect:
ssh -L 30300:localhost:8080 ....
When i give this for example clients should not be able to connect:
ssh -L 30300:localhost:4040 ....
I tried this option in config file of server:
