[PATCH 0/2] libxl/xl: two more coverity related fixes
The first patch is a leftover from the switch to libxl__create_qemu_logfile, and while there it also handles possible errors when opening /dev/null. The second one is a fix for the issues present in do_daemonize. Thanks, Roger.

Why dup()?
Hello all, My scripts, which read stdout from ssh, weren't seeing EOF from the remote session.? It was being sent, but lost.? I tracked it down to the following code, in ssh.c, at ssh_session2_open: ??????? if (stdin_null_flag) { ??????????????? in = open(_PATH_DEVNULL, O_RDONLY); ??????? } else { ??????????????? in = dup(STDIN_FILENO); ??????? } ??????? out = dup(STDOUT_FILENO);

[mesa v2 5/9] nouveau: fix screen creation failure paths
This all seems very roundabout... Can't we do this in a somewhat consistent way with the device being cleaned up in one place or another but not both? [PATCH] nouveau: dup fd before passing it to device
nouveau screens are reused for the same device node. However in the scenario where we create screen 1, screen 2, and then delete screen 1, the surrounding code might also close the original device node. To protect against this, dup the fd and use the dup'd fd in the nouveau_device. Also tell the nouveau_device that it is the owner of the fd so that it will be closed on destruction. Also make

sshd's -e doesn't work as expected
Hello, I'm running a sshd server using the -e flag so that I can capture its whole output and later send it to the user. I'm also setting LogLevel to DEBUG1 in the configuration file and I don't want to disturb syslogd. But the problem is that it doesn't work as expected (or as I expect, which I think should be the correct behavior). The log file ends up being empty because the

forkoff()
Please review the function below, forkoff(), meant to be used in clientloop.c instead of daemon() and the code in process_escapes(). The intention is to make ~D ( like ~& but also detach) possible and to make it possible for ssh -f (or ssh -f -f - see other thread on this) to detach, not just forkoff(). I also intend to use the same detach technique in a feature patch for the hang-on-exit

[nbdkit PATCH v2 2/3] server: Sanitize stdin/out before running plugin code
As shown in the previous patch, plugins may choose to use stdin or stdout during .config. But from .get_ready onwards, well-written plugins shouldn't be needing any further use of stdin/out. We already swapped stdin/out to /dev/null while daemonizing, but did not do do during -f or --run, which leads to some surprising inconsistency when trying to debug a plugin that works in the foreground

[libnbd PATCH v3 14/19] CONNECT_COMMAND.START: plug child process leak on error
A prior patch highlighted the following leak: when any construction step fails in the parent after fork(), the child process is leaked. We could plug the leak by inserting a new error handling section for killing the child process and reaping it with waitpid(). However, it would raise some new questions (what signal to send, ensure the child not ignore that signal, hope that whatever process

Dovecot 2.0.7 doesn't disassociate STDERR when it daemonizes.
At least it appears that way on my FreeBSD 8.1 system. This is probably unnoticeable in regular use but I happen to use CFengine(v2) for system configuration & monitoring. If it notices dovecot not running it tries to start it and hangs. I believe cfengine (cfagent) has created a pipe to monitor the start commmand's stderr and is waiting for this pipe to close. This never happens

[nbdkit PATCH] server: Enforce sane stdin/out/err
Refuse to run if stdin/out/err start life closed. stdin/out are essential when using -s (if they aren't present, we want to fail fast), and should remain unused otherwise (but ensuring they are open means we don't have to worry about other fd creation events accidentally colliding). We also want to ensure that nothing opens into the slot for stderr, as any error message we produce might

cdr-csv / Zaptel BRI / full number not stored (missing leading zeroes)
Hi, I'm using a ZaptelBRI card. It works fine. But I have a small problem with call logs. The leading zeroes of the external calling party are not stored (e.g. : 0140302010 will be stored as 140302010). Same for international numbers for which "00" will be stripped out. I would not mind if the cdr record would give me an indication of the call's origin (national or

Patch to allow openssh-2.2.0-p1 to be started from /etc/inittab
The following patch allows OpenSSH 2.2.0-p1 to be started (and managed) from /etc/inittab (by "init") on systems which support that. This is useful when you *really* want SSHD to always run since it will be automatically restarted by "init" if it dies (and if "init" dies the the systems dies :-). I use a line (in /etc/inittab) like this on Solaris systems:
