Upgrade fm 4.7 to 5.3: mptscsi module?
First issue: I did an upgrade from 4.7 to 5.3 on an HP DL380G3 box. I got yum working again and upgraded 160+ packages. During that process I saw: ------------------------------------------- Installing : kernel-PAE [157/322] WARNING: No module mptscsi found for kernel 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5PAE, continuing anyway Installing : kernel [158/322] WARNING:

Python 2.4 64-bit problem w/CentOS5.3?
I'm getting this on two XF_64 systems by running "yum update" today. Perhaps Python 2.4 is missing some lib64 libraries? --> Running transaction check ---> Package python.x86_64 0:2.4.3-24.el5_3.6 set to be updated ---> Package tkinter.x86_64 0:2.4.3-24.el5_3.6 set to be updated --> Processing Dependency: /usr/lib64/python2.4 for package: libxslt-python --> Processing

[OT] Conference room software
We have a very decentralized user base with no standard operating system or utilities except for a web browser of some kind (no Exchange either). What recommendations does the list have for software to coordinate conference room reservations? It doesn't need to be responsible for any kind of invitations or email notifications, really just a pretty calendar where scheduled events can go. It

Hi Everyone, I started a social networking site and I am getting ready to go live next week. I have limited fund as I am not funded yet (although hopefully soon). I have an extra Mac Pro (I know, how can I possibly call a Mac Pro dual 2.8 quad core with 16gb RAM extra). So Mac Pro quad Core, 16gb RAM, 4 x 1tb RAID level Seagate drives. I was going to load CentOS 5.4 on it, web, mysql

NTFS and elrepo
I have here a box which I dual-boot between CentOS 5.4 and an older version of that "other OS" that I'm using to check out the ELrepo version of kmod-ntfs. After installing as per the directions on the ELrepo site, I can mount an NTFS filesystem, and when I type "mount" with no options the output tells me that the target filesystem is mounted read-write. However, when I

XP clients hang on accessing certain directories
Hi all. I'm trying to debug a strange Samba/WinXP problem, but I don't know much about Windows or CIFS, so any insight from anyone would be much appreciated. Here's the situation: The initial problem was that clicking on certain directories on an XP Pro SP2 client would cause the client to freeze for a few minutes and then complain that the directory is inaccessable. This problem was

OpenSSH 5.1: call for testing
Hi, OpenSSH 5.1 is almost ready for release, so we would appreciate testing on as many platforms and systems as possible. This release is one of the biggest in recent years, with two hackathons' worth of improvements and fixes for some of our most recalcitrant bugs. Snapshot releases for portable OpenSSH are available from http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/ The OpenBSD version is

Vacation Fcc
Hi list, I use Dovecot's Pigeonhole Sieve implementation, and there is one little feature I'm missing: When a vacation message is sent, I'd like to keep a copy of that message in my "sent" mailbox. There is an RFC draft (draft-ietf-extra-sieve-fcc-09) for this, which adds a ":fcc" argument to vacation, but apparently it's not supported by Pigeonhole. I

CRTC and FCC Feeds
I don't understand why so many government sites fail to provide some sort of feed to their daily bulletins. What I am venting about in specific are the Canadian CRTC and FCC sites, every day I have to go to the website and when I reach the content, usually it isn't even HTML but a Word or PDF file. So finally today I decided to do something about it and wrote a little app that scrapes

PCPine performs illegal operation writing fcc over samba
This is a resend, since the samba list didn't like my logfile. I guess it was too big. The logfile is now at: http://www.nmt.edu/~wcolburn/samba.log I am sending this to both the pine people and the samba people. My hope is that one of you might be able to help me. :) PCPine is installed on a network drive (Y:) here. It is run from Windows 95 boxes. The users account is on a

FCC/Euro/Aussie approvals on TE410P
I just got back from Boston where we completed testing of the TE410P for FCC, Euro, and Australian approvals, and I'm happy to say we passed all our approvals (including Q.921 and Q.931 layers, i.e. libpri as well as surges) for both telco and leased line applications. Hopefully we'll have the official documents soon, but I know there are a lot of you out there that are happy to hear

FCC Will Force VOIP E911 in 120 days ?
http://www.lightreading.com/document.asp?doc_id=73943&site=lightreading I know e911 has been discussed on ths list before, but I just read this and it got me thinking that if you have a Wholesale VoIP carrier - wouldn't they have to pass e911 on to you as a VoIP provider to, in turn, pass on to your end-users? Of course there would be a fee - just wondering if this is how the

OT: American Telecom Approved by FCC to Certify DECT Phones in US
http://www.wirelessiq.com/content/newsfeed/7319.html I'm surprised, I thought DECT was already available in the USA from my days selling this at Ericsson Australia back in 1995. Can someone confirm that they aren't already available? Cheers, Dean -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

FCC Rules VoIP Must Be Tappable
http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/08/04/2212251&tid=158&tid=95&tid=103 Probably some of you already saw this. Now, beyond discussions regarding the legitimacy of such a ruling (whether they have the legal, moral or whatever right to enforce it), there's the technical aspect. Suppose i provide VoIP services using Asterisk, and i fall under the incidence of the FCC ruling

Speex Support for Ices?
wget ices*bz2 fgrep ./* -e "speex" ? fgrep ./* -e "ogg" ? Can't remember the exact lib name(s), but speex is very similar to vorbis/ogg lib implementations. So whomever wrote ices, would probably have a pretty easy time incorporating it. Well, before I do anything, I still need to get my program outputting usable metadata. Ezstream & oggfwd apparently do not stream from Alsa. I've seen some acrecord command line options, but it would also be nice to update metadata often too. Ices seems best. I've
