SSH RPM for Red Hat 6.2 not useable
Hello, I downloaded yesterday the Red Hat 6.2 RPMs for openssl and openssh from one of the official mirrors. I could install them on a stock Red Hat 6.2 box because rpm -Uvh says (quoting from memory...): cannot install because there is dependency conflict between this rpm (openssh core) and the version of rpm and rpmlib that you are using...... In other words, the rpm packages generated

Segfaults with ssh from Red Hat 6.2 openssh-clients-2.5.1p2-1.i386.rpm
The segfault logged below occurs on two different Red Hat 6.2 systems running OpenSSH installed from the 2.5.1p2 RPM. (Similar problems occured with the 2.5.1p1 RPM.) The most recent of the Red Hat 6.2 systems tested is stock except for an upgrade of rpm-3.0.5-9.6x.i386.rpm and the install of Red Hat's release of openssl-0.9.5a-3.i386.rpm, both necessary for the OpenSSH RPM install. [OT] Red Hat binary compatibility, from Red Hat Linux 4.0 to Fedora Core 3 (and RHEL4) ...
I wrote part of a FAQ last November, and if you're interested in the breakdown of GCC, GLibC and kernel adoption since Red Hat Linux 4.0, you'll want to read this: http://www.geocities.com/thebs413/RH-Distribution-FAQ-3.html I've been loosely working on a "Linux Configuration Management" book covering Red Hat distributions since. I might update this FAQ if I have

Re: Slashdot: "Could Microsoft buy Red Hat?" -- this is a joke made by the clueless
From: Nigel Kendrick <support-lists at petdoctors.co.uk> > Sorry if it wraps: > http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/05/16/1758249&tid=109&tid=163&tid=110&tid=98&tid=218 This has _nothing_ to do with Microsoft possibly buying Red Hat. People who even suggest this only expose their *0* understanding of business. Microsoft has an alliance with Sun. Why?
