scp with F-Secure SSH2
Hi!
I was browsing through archives and found out that somebody else was having
the same problem as I'm.
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=248
from the client, when I run scp to the server, I get:
scp: warning: Executing scp1 compatibility.
scp: FATAL: Executing ssh1 in compatibility mode failed (Check that scp1 is in

SSH1 vs. SSH2 - compression level
Hello,
I was searching for this information virtually everywhere, but as I
couldn't find it - I'm asking here.
I was wondering, why setting the Compression Level was removed in SSH2,
and if on, is always set to 6.
In SSH1 it was possible to set the Compression Level from 1 to 9.
I have made some tests with Compression Levels using scp: SSH1,
compression 9 (highest available for

SSHD Bug with Pam/Winbind on FreeBSD ver5.2
I've reproduced this bug in versions openssh-3.7p1 and openssh-3.8p1
I've verfived that it works PERFECTLY in versions openssh-3.6p1 and
openssh-2.9p2
I have not tested any other versions.
The problem is sshd will not authenticate passwords off a NT4 domain using
winbind and pam.
Broken Debug output is:

Multiple log entries for successful pubkey authentication
Hi,
I'm wondering if that's planned or just occuring accidentally.
With OpenSSH 4.0 and the upcoming 4.1, I'm getting two entries in syslog
when a pubkey authentication logon was successful:
Apr 7 13:19:10 cathi sshd : PID 66116 : Accepted publickey for corinna from 192.168.129.6 port 40207 ssh2

SSHD 3.7.1p2 on HP-UX
I have used SSHD from openssh-3.7.1p1 on HP-UX 11:11. It works
correctly and the entry in the logfile is:
Sep 24 07:01:20 garm sshd[6625]: Accepted password for japs from
192.38.97.131 port 2463
Next I have upgraded to openssh-3.7.1p2 and restarted SSHD. It does not
accept the password any more and the entries in the logfile are:

openssh 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1 Solaris problems
I have some Solaris 7 boxes (Ultra 3 and Ultra Enterprise 250 hardware)
that I have compiled both 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1 on and am having some
problems. I am using the same "configure" options that I have in the
past (without problems). I have tried both new and existing (previously
working) ssh_config and sshd_config files. The new versions seem to
have broken SSH 1 support (and

Hanging ssh
OK, with openssh-SNAP-20001218 I still have the problem of a hanging ssh
when running (one specific) command on a server. On the server side,
there's a small suid C prog (/usr/dh/mgmt/HupServer) that runs system
"/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl stop/start". Incidentally, apachectl is a
shell script, hence the need for a suid wrapper for non-root users... On
the client side,

Hi,
We have upgraded the openssh 4.6P1 on Solaris 8 servers. After upgrade

sftp problem
I am trying to resolve an issue with SSH2 version 2.5.2p2 on Solaris 2.6.
SSH2, SSH1 and SCP all work fine in and out. The problem is with SFTP. I
can SFTP out, but not in. I can't SFTP into itself. After I issue the
command, I get a password prompt. After I give the password, the connection
closes with an Exit Status 127. There are 3 other system configure the same

"PAM rejected by account configuration" and "fatal: monitor_read: unsupported request: 24" problem at secong sshd instance
Hi,
I setup two sshd instance (using OpenSSH_3.5p1 bins on redhat7.2 kernel
2.4.20-19.7smp ) in order to achieve differnet sshd settings (e.g use
different auth.method) on two different network interfaces (both on port
22).
For example to setup Hostbased authetication on the 1st sshd
and RSA pub. key auth. on the second:
The 1st instance config file /etc/ssh/sshd_config looks like:

Kerberos password authentication and SSH2
My site uses Kerb 4 (actually AFS) for virtually all authentication. No
users have local passwords on machines.
We'd like to start allowing SSH2 connections, but OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 will not
authenticate Kerberos passwords for SSH2 connections. In auth2.c:
#ifdef KRB4
/* turn off kerberos, not supported by SSH2 */
options.kerberos_authentication = 0;
#endif

User unable to log into Solaris when password has been expired by root
I have a question.
Our process for creating a new user account on our Solaris systems is to
force expire (passwd -f) the user's password so they have to chose their own
when they log in. However, since building OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 I find that new
users are unable to log in with the following syslog messages:
Oct 2 12:37:42 hostname sshd[1754]: User tester password has expired

Slow connection performance with ssh2
Hi,
since I switched from SSH 1 to OpenSSH 2.9p2/2.9.9p2/3.0p1 Snapshot I suffer from
awfully slow connection performance. Once the connection is established, performance
is perfectly ok.

sshd key comment logging
Hi,
I admin a box that has Subversion users authenticate with public keys
to a restricted 'svnuser' account. The comment field of all the keys
describe who they belong to (it has their usernames), but unfortunately,
sshd does not log this when a user successfully authenticates:
Jun 21 08:18:22 localhost sshd[23636]: Accepted publickey for svnuser

I'm using openssh-3.7.1p2 on Linux.
I keep getting setlogin errors in /var/log/messages:

Running LFS 4.0. Happens both on 2.6.0-test8 and 2.4.22-ac1.
When configuring openssh I get this in config.log:
