I've just discovered that the RH 7.2 installer produces journals (ie on partitions created as ext3 from within the installer) that flag these warnings with a modified 1.25 e2fsck (the mods being to clear the errors rather

rh7.2 starts wine in runlevel 3!
installing the wine rpm that comes with red hat 7.2 works -- unless you switch to runlevel 3! Then the wine startup script runs, and fails. Since wine depends on X, it should only run in runlevel 5! - Dan

pivot_root problem on RH7.2
Hello, I'm new in ext3. I installed RH7.2 with ext3. For a short time it worked properly, but when I compiled the linux kernel (2.4.9-13) from RH package, the old kernel didn't boot again (I didn't change anything with the old binary). how do I tell configure where to find Java?
Dear R-help, I'm trying to build R-2.4.0 on our Opteron-based Scyld cluster. The system has gcj (the GNU Java compiler, part of GCC) stuff in /usr/bin. When I installed jdk 1.5.08, the install script placed it in /usr/java (I didn't have a choice, as the script didn't offer that option). Now when I run configure in R-2.4.0, it finds gcj, which is not what I want to use. Is there a

Proper use of LD_LIBRARY_PATH for Linux progs?
Hi! I ran into a problem with programs exec:ed by print/acroread8 picking up Linux libraries and thus failed to run. This includes the print program in the print dialogue and the browser configured in edit/preferences/internet. The reason is that the acroread launch script sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH which is propagated to its childs. See this PR:
