hello,
I have just installed openssh 4.2p1 and it seems that sshd child process

Linux 4.2p1 crash during reverse name lookup
4.0p1 and 4.2p1 are affected for me, I'm using Linux based around a FC2
build (~2 years old).
I'm trying to login with password authentication from psftp.exe (part of
PuTTY) but it.
Maybe this bug isn't with OpenSSH itself but a supporting library, I
would appreciate your assistance in tracking down the problem.
I have tried getting a 'core' file out of SSH with

name resolution does not work under amd64
Hi.
After a couple of updates my dns resolution stopped working.
I have lib32nss-mdns installed and i'm using launchpad wine packages.
i've compiled (via winegcc -m32 ) a simple c source to check this. if host is not in hosts file, then gethostbyname() always fails. Firefox under wine tells "Server not found".

Increased memory usage between 4.8 and 5.5
I'm running into a memory problem when trying to switch some web servers
that are running centos4.8/x86_64 to centos5.5/x86_64. The new servers
running centos5.5 are using a decent amount more memory than the
centos4.8 servers.
Here's an example from top:

Notepad appends ".txt" to file names it looks for
The program I'm using is 4NEC2, a freeware antenna-modelling program.
I'm running wine-0.9.61 on Gentoo Linux on a Dell with Intel Core Duo
cpu.
Let's say I'm working on a design that I call "fubar". 4NEC2 will
create files with names like "fubar.NEC" and "fubar.log". 4NEC uses
Notepad to open the files for viewing. For some reason, my system

Here's the details and some debugging I did for starters, but I have no
idea where to proceed from here. Help please? Command to reproduce should
be in the strace output below.

through to the list since I wasn't subscribed initially.

puppet with launchd - problem with hostname
Hi,
We''re having a problem with our puppet install on our mac''s. We''ve setup a launchd plist following the instructions at:
http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/puppet/wiki/Puppet_With_Launchd
The problem we''re having is that when the mac initially boots, it''s hostname is fubar.local - after the networking starts up, the hostname becomes

Samba4 Member Server not working
Hi,
I have one Samba4 server running as Active Directory Domain Controller.
It's working like a charm.
So I needed to add another server to be a Member Server (File Server).
The server is running samba-4.0.9.
Configured and compiled ok:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var --mandir=/usr/man --bindir=/usr/bin
--sbindir=/usr/sbin --libdir=/lib

This looks like a very cool feature addition to RELENG_7! Are there
any performance penalties that you know of with this built in ?

[LLVMdev] Chaining Atoms together
Hi Nick,
Thanks for your reply.
The usecase here is just trying to construct a valid ELF. The lld linker
needs to handle all sorts of code written in assembly as well as 'C'.
The usecase is just one example of it.
I have also seen similiar code in

which has global and local labels.

Backspace key does not work in a ssh chroot jail
I setup a ssh chroot jail following this[1] guide. It works for my user to login, use ls and use scp which is all I really want. I do have a problem I cannot solve: when connected and navigating the filesystem, the backspace key actually moves the cursor forward and does not delete what I type.
I may have found a hint from some googling that readline will read in /etc/inputrc on login but if
