Whups, I should've been more clear and less terse -- it's been a long weekend putting the machines these are supporting into production!

imap disconnects on my account only
Talk about personal problems!
I am using dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2, and everything has been going fine
for months. Earlier this afternoon, Thunderbird's status pane would
say 'Sending authenticate login information...' and I would no longer
receive email.
When I checked with others, they were fine and dandy.
I tried kmail, evolution, and even tried webmail. All had connection errors.

Followup to Rok Papez's tests

make tests failures (agent.sh)
Hello,
I recently setup a CentOS 4.0 box (a derivative of RH).
I downloaded a 4.0p1 tarball of OpenSSH and grabbed OpenSSL 0.9.7e. I
configured OpenSSL with,
$ ./Configure no-idea no-rc5 shared linux-pentium
and it built fine. I didn't do a make install.
I then configured OpenSSH.
Here is a snippet of config.log:

Compiling openssh-4.0p1 on Solaris 10.
I am trying to compile OpenSSH 4.0p1 on a new Solaris 10 system using the
OpenSSL that comes w/ the OS (0.9.7d) as well as MIT Krb5 1.4.1 (for various
reasons we are not using Sun's Krb5 implementation):
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --with-kerberos5=/usr/local/krb5
--with-ssl-dir=/usr/sfw
And it looks to be bombing here (adding in random support?):

Incorrect md5sum in portable OpenSSH 4.0p1 announcement
Hi,
The release announcement for OpenSSH 4.0p1 had an incorrect md5sum for the
portable tarball. The correct md5 is below, otherwise you may verify the
integrity of the release using the PGP signature, contained in the file
"openssh-4.0p1.tar.gz.sig" in the release directory.
MD5 (openssh-4.0p1.tar.gz) = 7b36f28fc16e1b7f4ba3c1dca191ac92
Apologies for any confusion,

runs of heads when flipping a coin
Can someone recommend a method to answer the following type of question:
Suppose I have a coin with a probability hhh of coming up heads (and 1-hhh
of coming up tails)
I plan on flipping the coin nnn times (for example, nnn = 500)
What is the expected probability or frequency of a run of rrr heads* during
the nnn=500 coin flips?
Moreover, I would probably (excuse the pun) want the answer for a

Need help with GSSAPI authentication
Client: Windows XP pro, in an AD 2003 domain, running SecureCRT 4.1.11.
I've also got MIT Kerberos for Windows installed on the client, and Leash
shows that my tickets ARE forwardable.
Server: Solaris 8 Sparc server, with MIT Kerberos (krb5-1.4.1), and
OpenSSH 4.0p1.
I've created two AD accounts, and extracted keys mapped to
"host/hostname.domainname.com at REALM.COM" and

Patch for UnixWare 7
Hi,
I have ported OpenSSH-4.0p1 to UnixWare 7.1.4. Can you please add the
following for UnixWare 7 in the configure script:
Description:
+ cross compiler produces i386a.out.
+ libcrypt which needs to come after openssl's libcrypto.
+ passwd needs user name.
Thanks,
Ahsan Rashid

x11 forwarding problem
I login from system using Openssh 4.0p1 or 4.1p1 to
systems running Openssh before 3.9p1 or 3.7p1.
It appears the X11 stuff are either blocked or not
recognised. I get errors like
"xterm Xt error: Can't open display: <host>:10.0" or
"X11 connection rejected because of wrong
authentication.
X connection to localhost:10.0 broken....."
depending on whether I use

OpenSSH 4.0p1 segfaults on keyboard-interactive login
Hi folks,
I've compiled the new OpenSSH 4.0p1 on my Linux box running
Fedora Core 2 (kernel 2.6.10) the same way as I did with 3.9p1
and all previous versions.
Key-based login works fine, but if I login from a host that
require me to enter my login password (keyboard-interactive),
then the sshd child process segfaults.
Don't know if this is specific to my system or to Linux in
general.

Problems with PAM environments in ssh
I?ve stumbled across a rather obscure problem with ssh. My machine is
setup to use Kerberos authentication, i.e., I use the pam_krb5 module in
the ssh auth section of the PAM configuration file and I have sshd
compiled to accept valid Kerberos 5 tickets as well. I also use OpenAFS,
so I?ve got the pam_openafs_session module in the ssh session section of
the PAM configuration file.

Snooze energy-efficient cloud manager is available as open-source!
Dear all,
herewith we proudly announce the first public release of Snooze.
Snooze is an open-source scalable, autonomic, and energy-efficient
virtual machine (VM) management framework for private clouds based on
libvirt. Similarly to other VM management frameworks such as Nimbus,
OpenNebula, Eucalyptus, and OpenStack it allows to build compute
infrastructures from virtualized resources.
