Hello Samba people,
I have been successfully using Samba for several years, across many
minor versions of Samba across many minor versions of Linux kernel 2.4.x
and 2.6.x, against a Windows 2000 and then in the past couple of years
2003 AD Domain. This morning, something broke...

OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3, several weird terminal problems
I compiled OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3 (or at least
"uname -a"'s output of 4.0.3.0 suggests v4.3, I'm not positive).
I was able to compile zlib (1.1.4) and openssl (0.9.7a) with little
trouble.
OpenSSH took hand-hacking the includes.h file as follows:
diff -cr openssh-3.6.1p1/includes.h openssh-3.6.1p1-customized/includes.h

Convert keys (OpenSSL to OpenSSH)
Hello,
I would like to use Public Key authentication with OpenSSH. I am trying to use a
public / private key set created using CA.pl. http://www.openssl.org/docs/apps/CA.pl.html
I am not sure but I think my OpenSSL keys will not work until some conversion takes place.
I was able to get them working between Windows (Putty.EXE) and my SSHD server but
PuttyGen.EXE converted the public keys

PKI and SSH
Due to unpleasant (but arguably valid) policy changes at work, any SSH
server within the work firewall must accept only PKI authentication.
Unless we can convince the higher-ups otherwise, we will also have to
use the commercial SSH server within the firewall. Of course, I should
be able to use whatever client I like. Unfortunately, it is not clear
that I can get OpenSSH to use PKI authentication.

SSH login attempts: tcpdump packet capture
I got a packet capture of one of the SSH2 sessions trying to log in as a
couple of illegal usernames. The contents of one packet suggests an
attempt to buffer overflow the SSH server; ethereal's SSH decoding says
"overly large value".
It didn't seem to work against my system (I see no strange processes
running; all files changed in past ten days look normal).

Time to add exponential backoff for SSH interactive login failures?
I'm accustomed to systems where even the first failed login attempt
incurs a 5 second delay. I don't think that's too harsh, but everyone
has their own needs and considerations. This could be made
configurable.

domain_client_validate: unable to validate password for user MACHINE$ in domain DOMAIN to Domain controller \\DC. Error was NT_STATUS_NOLOGON_WORKSTATION_TRUST_ACCOUNT
Hi Samba users -
I recently upgraded my domain at home from being controlled by two
somewhat messed up Windows DCs (one 2000 and the other 2003, messed up by
my own inexpert management..) to a nice clean new single 2003 DC (SBS, if
it matters).
I rejoined all workstations, including a Redhat Fedora FC3 based machine,
to the new domain. (Actually, I migrated all of the Windows workstations

smbd running multiple times
Dear "someone who can help",
I am having a problem with SAMBA and SWAT (although
I'm not sure SWAT is part of the problem...) I get
two instances of "smbd" when ever it is started on
this system. From SWAT I can only stop it ONE time.
After that, each time I attempt to stop the SMBD
daemon from SWAT it simply starts TWO more instances
of the daemon (or something

Re: DVD-"this projector file is corrupt! Unable to cont
I have the same issue here and using a nativ msvcrt.dll file doesn't.
What's really wierd is that I run this App on an other pc under the same Ubuntu version with the same Wine version and got no problem. Everything went fine and the app runs great.
The only difference is the graphic gard. On the one which works, it's a Nvidia 7300 Go and on the other it's an ATI Radeon Xpress

[LLVMdev] About adding a pass into llvm, cont
Hi,
Thanks for your last reply.
Could I understand the way to adding a pass (built into the llvm rather than
dynamic loadable) includes:
1. Declaring a creator function for this pass
2. Implementing the creator function for this pass
3. Instantiating this pass and get a object of it
3. Register this pass into the PassRegistry
Then, for a built-into bytecode pass,

Samba consuming massive amounts of memory (CONT)
Concerning Samba consuming memory, I forgot to add one thing, sorry.
The process listing does not show Smbd consuming the memory. "free -m" just
reports a drastic increase when I use Samba.
Relevant portions of ps -fwaux:

/usr/sbin/smbd -D -s /etc/samba/smb.conf

Fw: questions about rpart - cont.
Forgot to specify that the cross-val error cannot be decreased lower than 0.91.
Note that for smaller values of cp than 0.01, the cross-val error increases.
Is the cross-val error sum of squared error or relative error for classification
problem (method = "class" in rpart function) or another type of error?
Is it possible to determine the true positive, false positive using rpart?

HELP with browsing and popups (Cont: Get popups)
I've got plenty of messages about "message command". Please don't talk me about
"message command". I have "message command" in my smb.conf. It seems to be
another problem: I can browse all groups in local network but anyone can't
find me in "Network neighboorhood" in Widows 9x.
I can receive popups only from boxes with samba (Linux boxes) and
