Compiling --with-ldap on Solaris 9
I am trying to compile the small Samba 3.0.2a source on Solaris 9 to use ldap. The ./configure run reports: "WARNING: libldap is needed for LDAP support". The Solaris installation has it's native libldap installed in /usr/lib, but the configuration does not seem to find it. Would anyone know what I am missing? Thanks...dlb David Bost Dow Jones and Co. 4300 North Route 1 South

LDAP Authorising users from Active Directory
Hi, I am having stability problems setting up dovecot to authenticate virtual users against Active Directory on Win2k3. If the correct userid and password are used, everything works fine, see first logfile snippet below. If an unknown userid is used, again everything works fine. If I try logging in with a valid userid but get the password wrong, that connection is rejected (see second logfile

LDAP Auth problems with auth_bind=yes
Hi, I first posted this problem a day or two ago and have not seen any responses yet. To clarify my problem, I am authenticating virtual users against Active Directory on Win2k3, where their login id is their email address. I am using an almost identical setup to Suranga's below, however my initial bind user doesn't have access to the userPassword attribute, so I am using: auth_bind

Possible problem with hostbased protocol 1 rhosts authentication
I found this problem when working with the Suse9.1 distribution, but have since reproduced it with a vanilla build of Openssh (openssh-3.9p1.tar.gz). Basically I cannot get a command like this: XXXX>ssh -vvv -1 -o "RhostsAuthentication yes" AAAA to work. Yes the appropriate settings are in the servers sshd_config file. Hostbased protocol 1 ssh using rhosts between computers is

Hi, I have recently compiled a copy of OpenSSH for use on Reliant Unix ( Sinix ) version 5.45. My installation works okay for user root. When I try to log on as another user I get prompted for the user password. When I type this in OpenSSH throws me out each time. I have been able to see any errors. My version is OpenSSH_3.8p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004. I am using Putty

[fdo] Ssh service interruption of freedesktop.org
Hi admins, thank you for maintaining useful development resources. But I'm in trouble. Please help. I and some developers are unable to use ssh login over 24 hours. Is there a intended service interruption? Or some problems are lying? I and some developers could slogin to freedesktop.org before the problem had occurred. My local environment has not altered in recent days. my source address:

Patch Status
When is the x.509 patch going to become part of the main distribution of OpenSSH, and if not, why? Looks like other projects i.e. OpenSC might be using it now as well. Secondly, thought I'd try it again, new patch (Validator), same error... problem moving hostkey from ssh version 3.5p1 to 3.8p
Hi, I am trying to upgrade from OpenSSH_3.5p1 FreeBSD 4.8 to OpenSSH_3.8p1 (Suse 9.1). Although the host rsa and dsa keys have been copied over from old to new machine, linux ssh clients (3.8p1) still bring up the new-key alert. ssh clients from freebsd machines till OpenSSH_3.6.1p1 work fine with the setup (without the new key alert) ssh -vv shows linux clients are looking for type 0 and type

IPv6 + user@ipaddress
Using: Solaris 8.0 OpenSSH OpenSSH_3.8p1 I believe I may have found a bug when dealing with restricting user at ipv6address in cases when adjacent colons do not expand to multiple fields. For example: If I have any of the following entries in sshd_config, it will let me in: user at 1234:0234:0234:0000:0234:1234:1234:1234 user at 1234:234:234:0000:234:1234:1234:1234 user at

scp and the use of fortune in /etc/profile
I tracked down a problem related to running fortune at the start of every shell instance and scp. I imagine the problem would be the same with any utility automatically started upon login that prints to the screen. I am not sure if this intentional, a bug or just an annoyance that one should not run such utilities at login. Maybe one for the faq eh, so no one respends the time I just did
