[Patch] User-dependent IdentityFile
Here is the user-dependent IdentityFile patch for openssh3.5 (BSD version), which allows private key files to be placed system wide (for all users) in a secure (non-NFS) mounted location. This addresses an important security hole on systems where home directories are NFS mounted, particularly if there are users who use blank passphrases (or when lpd is tunneled through ssh on systems running lpd

OpenSSH ControlAllowUsers, et al Patch
Attached (and inline) is a patch to add the following config options: ControlBindMask ControlAllowUsers ControlAllowGroups ControlDenyUsers ControlDenyGroups It pulls the peer credential check from client_process_control() in ssh.c, and expounds upon it in a new function, client_control_grant(). Supplemental groups are not checked in this patch. I didn't feel comfortable taking a shot

ControlPersist.
This is a better approach to persistent control masters than my previous attempt. Instead of forking before we make the connection, do so only when the original session has closed -- much like the code for '~&' backgrounding already does. My earlier patch for 'ControlPath none' still applies and is required, btw. --- openssh/clientloop.c~ 2005-06-17 03:59:35.000000000 +0100

ssh's readconf.c debug() goes to /dev/null
Hi, Related to: http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/usr.bin/ssh/ssh.c.diff?r1=1.100&r2=1.101 It'd appear that logging in readconf.c: --- debug("Applying options for %.100s", arg); debug("Reading configuration data %.200s", filename); --- Goes to /dev/null. This is caused by the fact, that in ssh.c there is: --- /* * Initialize

%h,%p,%u expansion for ControlPath
This allows me to set 'ControlPath ~/.ssh/sockets/%h.%p.%u' for example. Have I missed a good reason why ssh_connect finds the default port number for itself instead of just having it in options.port (like we do for the the default in options.user)? --- openssh-4.1p1/ssh.c~ 2005-06-12 09:47:18.000000000 +0100 +++ openssh-4.1p1/ssh.c 2005-06-12 09:40:53.000000000 +0100 @@ -604,6 +604,17

[PATCH] Make "ssh" try different configuration filenames
To provide a bit more backwards-compatible (which is nice for eg. NFS- shared /home directories) try a few version-number based names. Eg., for "OpenSSH_7.3" the strings that are tried after "~/.ssh/config" are "_7.3", "_7", and "". --- ssh.c | 37 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++------- 1 file changed, 30 insertions(+), 7 deletions(-) diff --git

Password from open filedescriptor
The included patch adds a new option to the ssh client: -d fd Read the password from file descriptor fd. If you use 0 for fd, the passphrase will be read from stdin. This is basically the same as GPG:s parameter --passphrase-fd. Flames about why this is a bad idea goes into /dev/null. I really need to do this. There are lots of ugly Expect-hacks out there, but I want a more clean

connection timeout
Attached is a patch which adds a ConnectionTimeout option, and corrects the ConnectionAttempts documentation. Previously, ssh would try to make a connection ConnectionAttempts times, sleeping 1 second between tries. But each connection attempt could take a very long time to fail if the packets die before the get to the host. So if ssh is being run in a script or what-have-you, it might be

openssh for UWIN
I am enclosing a context diff of the changes that I made to get openssh working on UWIN. UWIN is a UNIX operating system layer that runs on Win32 systems. For more information on UWIN go to http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/uwin/. I also ran configure using -with-cppflags=-D_BSDCOMP=2. I don't know where that information would go with the source code. Let me know if you need more

[PATCH]: Remove HAVE_CYGWIN in favor of NO_IPPORT_RESERVED_CONCEPT
Hi, I've sent that patch once already but it seems more or less forgotten in the tumultuous days of the latest vulnerability. It adds a new define NO_IPPORT_RESERVED_CONCEPT which can be defined on platforms not supporting the concept of "privileged" ports only accessible by privileged users but which allow everyone to use these ports. This patch removes some Cygwin dependencies

[PATCH] Added option 'RetryDelay'
Being rather aggrevated when testing at the enforced 1 second delay between each connection attempt and the useless 1 second delay done after all connection attempts have failed I wrote a patch to make the number of seconds delayed between each connection attempt configurable. Sneek peak at what was commited.
For those following the portable CVS tree.. I'd suggest holding off for a day or so unless you really want to get dirty. I just commited 32 patches from the OpenBSD tree, but have not worked out all the issues (due to Linux brain damage <sigh..Faster OpenBSD gets SMP..the happer I'll be>). The two things that need to be finished integrated in the configure.in is KRB5 and

IdentityFile patch
By the way, I noticed in the previous IdentityFile patch I forgot to expand tilde. I fixed this by making the change in ssh.c instead of readconf.c, which is probably where it belongs, as far as the existing code is concerned: diff -ur openssh-3.0.2p1/auth.c openssh-3.0.2p1I/auth.c --- openssh-3.0.2p1/auth.c Sun Nov 11 17:06:07 2001 +++ openssh-3.0.2p1I/auth.c Sun Jan 27 12:05:14 2002 @@ -44,7

OpenSSH PATCH: OpenCommand and CloseCommand
Hi, the attached patch adds support for the keywords "OpenCommand" and "CloseCommand" to ssh_config. They are commands which are executed before the connection is established (or ProxyCommand started) and after the connection has been closed (or ProxyCommand ended). this is usefull for stuff like portknocking or (that's what I wrote the patch for) talking with trapdoor2
