Back again with another oops, which looks suspiciously similiar to the one i posted some days ago (https://listman.redhat.com/pipermail/ext3-users/2002-May/003587.html). Rgraphviz - neato layout - edge weights do not have an effect
Dear all, neato makes layouts according to a physical model in which the length of the edges is determined by springs. The weight of the edge is the strength of the spring. However, I was not able to find any influence of edge weight on the layout. In the http://www.graphviz.org/Documentation/neatoguide.pdf the attribute "len" is another parameter of the neato layout. set.seed(31)

active/active failover
Hi Stefan, I think what you propose will work, though you should test it thoroughly. I think more generally, "the GlusterFS way" would be to use 2-way replication instead of a distributed volume; then you can lose one of your servers without outage. And re-synchronize when it comes back up. Chances are if you weren't using the SAN volumes; you could have purchased two servers

active/active failover
Dear all, I'm rather new to glusterfs but have some experience running lager lustre and beegfs installations. These filesystems provide active/active failover. Now, I discovered that I can also do this in glusterfs, although I didn't find detailed documentation about it. (I'm using glusterfs 3.10.8) So my question is: can I really use glusterfs to do failover in the way described

active/active failover
Hi Alex, Thank you for the quick reply! Yes, I'm aware that using ?plain? hardware with replication is more what GlusterFS is for. I cannot talk about prices where in detail, but for me, it evens more or less out. Moreover, I have more SAN that I'd rather re-use (because of Lustre) than buy new hardware. I'll test more to understand what precisely "replace-brick"

Managed to make some progress, stuck again.
Hi, An update on my work to integrate my Linux server (CentOS 4.3) in AD 2003. Sorry about the long post :) Found this page (http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netos/article.php/3487081) and followed the instructions on it. First, I made sure that the Samba installation is supporting Kerberos, LDAP, AD and Windbind. That was OK. I made sure that /etc/hosts contain the name of the AD

Trying to find why it is not working
Hi, First, sorry if this is a bit long. I'm having problems finding what is wrong with my setup. Running Samba 3.0.10-1.4E.6 on CentOS 4.3. PDC is AD on windows 2003. Samba and winbind are running. My smb.conf file: # Samba config file created using SWAT # from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) # Date: 2006/05/30 10:52:16 # Global parameters [global] workgroup = MONTREAL realm =

NT SMB Support parameter questions
Hi, I've recently had the following experience, which may be of help to people here, so I'm mentioning my tests and conclusions. I've recently been observing this behaviour from Samba - this is an easily reproducible problem:- 1/ Open a share 2/ Create a new document in Word. 3/ Make some changes. 4/ Save the document using the save icon on the toolbar, this works as expected. 5/

linux-ha heartbeat .. failover firewall
I have searched your FAQ''s and read the documentation on your site as well as googling. I am not able to figure this out. If you have any ideas can you please help. I am using the linux-ha failover with redundant firewalls. As part of the function of the linux-ha software consists a service called heartbeat which is a connection from each failover node through a serial cable or ethernet.

Winbind authentication over transitive trusts between multiple W2k3 Domains
Hallo, we use Samba 3.0.22 with MIT Kerberos and winbind on Ubuntu edgy in a Windows2003 ADS enviroment. Everything works fine like kinit, net ads join, getting the Domain accounts from the own and other domains, but one important thing fails - obviously winbind cannot resolve name to sid, when the account is in another domain, where is only a transitive trust, not a direct. Lets say there

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4 Samba
Gary, SWAT is neato! This is a wonderful summarizing and helping tool! I didn't know about it at all! (I had to set disable to no and enable it via xinetd, but then my localhost:901 works great!!) I'm going to look it over and try to regain at least the basic understanding I got of Samba many years ago when I configured my Windows 98! I believe it will go faster with

Zaptel HZ Warning
Anyone else get this while compiling zaptel? I'm guessing I have to modify my kernel. Neato. :( Does that mean that the zaptel module (I'm really after ztdummy), or this xpp_zap thing won't be usable...? Not that I have zaptel hardware, but it seems Asterisk won't compile itself without zaptel being installed. CC [M] /root/software/zaptel-1.2.6/xpp/xpp_zap.o

Rgraphviz: How to control the colours of edges in a graph
Using Rgraphviz, I draw the undirected graph with vertices A,B,C and D and edges A:B, B:C, C:D, D:A, A:C. I want the vertices A and B to be red and C and D to be blue. The problem is the following: I want the edges A:B and B:C to be green and the edges C:D and C:A to be yellow, while the edge A:C can have the default colour black. I assume that I have to specify this using the edgeAttrs-argument

How can you capture the input and output of a serial port in wine
I'm curious about this. I'm trying to reverse-engineer a really neato-device that hooks up to the serial port and has Windows software. I've figured out the protocol the device sends; I'm just not sure how the device is initialized. So I'd love to capture the Windows software doing the dirty deed.. and WINE is IMHO just the tool. So, question is: How do you capture serial

ACLs and winbind
I'm trying to allow XP clients to add ACLs in the homes share. It appears that I'm unable to do it unless I use winbind although I'm in a pure Samba/OpenLDAP environment. I have a PDC and BDC with Samba/OpenLDAP and a member Samba server with homes and profiles (below is its smb.conf) on which I have Posix ACLs. If I comment out the idmap lines I cannot add ACLs from XP in my home

Feature Request
Just built 2.6.1 and started testing it. Nice job guys. I especially love the --progress and hardlink tweaks. Quite often, while I have systems backing up out of cron, I'd love to be able to see the --progress. Unfortunately, it's just not practical to crank up the verbosity like that on a regular basis (some of these systems have a few million files). A neat feature I'd like to see
