Anti-spam: challenge-response for non-subscriber postings
Hi, The openssh-unix-dev list now requires posts from non-subscribed addresses to pass a challenge-response before being accepted to the list. This may bite you if you use a different address to post from the one you subscribed with, but you should only need to perform the challenge- response once (it will remember your address from then on). Apologies for any inconvenience, but this should

Challenge response authentication and PAM
As an experiment I set up Challenge/response authentication on a Linux system with PAM using a pam_opie module (this module works fine with console logins and su). I can log into the box using the opie password, *but* it does not give me the challenge - which can make things a little tricky :-) I can well believe this might be a fault in the PAM pam_opie module I am using, so has anyone got

Administrivia: spam
Hi, I'm sure you have all noticed the recentincrease in spam making it through the list filters. I guess this is due to the spammers adopting techniques specifically intended to evade SpamAssassin. Over the next week, I will be adding add some extra anti-spam measures to the list. Hopefully this will stop this abuse. Until then, patience please. Thanks, Damien Miller

New PAM code landing (at last)
Hello all, The long-mooted PAM merge from FreeBSD is starting _now_. This replaces the PAM password auth kludge that we have used until now with a discrete challenge-response module. This module is invoked via keyboard-interactive for protocol 2 or TIS auth for protocol 1. Warning: this is a large change and will probably break things. It has only been tested with basic password auth modules and

mindrot.org TMDA sending multiple auto-responder spams
Hi, It is a shame I feel obliged to write this email. I sent a single email with a possible bug in it, asking if it was working in a newer release. I got 3 spam emails from mindrot.org. Two asking me to confirm, and then when I was forced to confirm I got another auto-responder spam. If I had wanted the 3rd spam I would have set "return receipt". I got this (below) auto-responder
