Can SAMBA be used to map a WINDOWS directory to a UNIX SERVER (pa rticularly SOLARIS)?
Hi:
We were wondering if SAMBA can be used to make a windows share look like a
UNIX filesystem to the UNIX server? I know it works in reversre. Just
checking to see if there were new functionality I was not privy to.

[PATCH] PamServiceNameAppend
Hello,
Here's the situation I'm facing : I'm running OpenSSH on a server. On
a gateway, I forward TCP:22 to the server TCP:22. So far, so good. I can
log in from inside the lan by connecting using standard SSH port, or
from the other network through the gateway.
Now, I'd like a different configuration for connections from the
outside. I start another SSHd on the

unable to join domain hosted by 3.0 PDC
I've been trying to set up a samba 3.0 PDC, and am unable to get my
machines to join the domain. I've followed the HOWTO pretty closely, but
when I try to get a win2k machine to join the domain, I get a message
saying that the authentication failed. The log on the samba server shows
the following errors (at loglevel 2):

Dongsu and Jeff, any of you test this variant? I think this is the last
one, at least I hope so as well...

smbclient -k works; mount -t cifs does not
I am confused (nothing new there ...). I have 2 Ubuntu 9.10 Samba
servers. I am trying to mount a share from the other (i.e., "workhorse"
is trying to mount a share on "dual-booter"). If I specify a smbmount
command with a -k option, I can mount the share:
turgon at workhorse:~$ klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1000
Default principal: turgon at DACRIB.LOCAL

Actually I had also tried to reproduce this bug, without success.
But today I happened to know how to trigger the bug, by coincidence,
during testing other things.
Try to run xfstests/generic/034. You'll

printer preferences not settable using samba print driver
We're putting together a Linux-cups-samba print server for Windows
clients. A dozen print drivers have been loaded and used successfully on
the Windows clients from the samba server. But, one particular printer
is causing trouble: a Xerox DC 2240. When a windows client tries to open
the printer preferences, after connecting to the printer on the samba
print server, a popup says

patch to add a PAMServiceName config option
I append a patch against openssh-3.5p1.tar.gz which adds a config option
PAMServiceName. The option allows one to specify the PAM service at
runtime in the config file rather than using __progname or having it
hardwired to SSHD_PAM_SERVICE at compile time. I expect this to be useful
if one wants to run multiple instances of sshd using different PAM
configurations.
With this patch

Feature Request: Settable 'nice' value.
So, some of us would like to be able to set the nice value on puppetd.
However, we don''t want all of our services (and some of our execs)
re-niced.
Would it be feasible/practical to have the ability to set the nice
value explicitly on Service and Exec calls?
Thanks,
Trevor

Settable minimum RSA key sizes on the client end for legacy devices.
Unix was not designed to stop you from doing stupid things, because that would also stop you from doing clever things.

Well, I'm on the developers' side.
They need to produce a product that _now_ gets installed in some
embedded device and is expected to be still secure in 15 years and
longer
