smbfs + large UID's
[ I'm not on this list, so please include me on the replies! ] Hi, I've discovered (at least for me and some colleagues;-) the following problem on Linux@x86 (2.4.*): When we try to mount FS's via smbfs with the option uid=<my_uid> this uid can only be 16bits wide:-( But we have uid's larger than 65536 which than end up beeing interpreted as %2^16 --> not allowing

getting Samba 3.0.1 to use NIS UID's/GID's instead of its own
There are two NT domains, the resource domain (pretend it's RESDOM) and the user domain (MASDOM) where RESDOM trusts MASDOM. My Samber server (COOL) is registered in the RESDOM domain. I can do smbclient -L COOL -U MASDOM/myname and it asks for a password and displays the shares correctly, even picking up the NIS logon share. The problems start, however, when I want to connect to the myname

problems with changing Unix UID's and Samba acting as a PDC
I am using samba 2.2.1a in the following environment: Solaris 8+RedHat 8+win2k/XP clients files are on a Network Appliance fileserver The samba server is used as a PDC for authentication with the NIS server. We don not have a windows server. Recently I was asked to change the Unix UID's of our employees. On the Unix side you modify NIS and run the chown command on all the users files. I than

Map between existing UNIX UID's and Windows SID for file sharing.
Hello, I have search this list and the HOW TO's, but can't find the answer! We have all our users on both Windows (ADS) and Solaris (NIS), but I can not configure samba shares so Windows Users can modify the security settings on there files, so that other people can look/edit there files.... If I don't fix this problem soon we will end up with a Windows file-server as well as a

smbldap-tools: only incremental UID's?
Hi, In smbldap-useradd.pl is a pice of code, which find the first unused uid starting from $UID_START (for example 1000). if (!defined($userUidNumber)) { # find first unused uid starting from $UID_START while (defined(getpwuid($UID_START))) { $UID_START++; } I've over 500 UID's in use (maximum UID is 1547). It works well, until you delete an user. After deleting an user,

Managesieve with multiple uid's
Hi, I'm trying to setup a system with dovecot to remove the old courier one, and everything (pop3, imap, lmtp, quotas) but managesieve is working fine. It seems like it's a problem with each user having a separate uid, because I have a working similar setup with a single uid working without problems. In this system when I try to connect to the managesieve port using telnet I get no

making Dovecot match Courier POP3 UID's
Hi, guys. I've read the information in the Wiki about making dovecot's UID's match Courier's UID's in the POP3 server, so that a UIDL command on either server will return the same UID's for the same group of messages. However, what I've read doesn't match what I'm seeing in Courier. Courier appears to keep the UID numbers for messages that it uses for the POP3

Samba failover causes different UID's
Hi, I have two machines in a cluster and want to create a high available samba share that connects to active directory for user information. The storage is DRBD and the filesystem is XFS. I'm using pacemaker as cluster software and using the lsb:samba init script. I connected both machines to my Windows AD server and tested this using winbind. winbind -u gives me all AD users which seems

Possible problem with hostbased protocol 1 rhosts authentication
I found this problem when working with the Suse9.1 distribution, but have since reproduced it with a vanilla build of Openssh (openssh-3.9p1.tar.gz). Basically I cannot get a command like this: XXXX>ssh -vvv -1 -o "RhostsAuthentication yes" AAAA to work. Yes the appropriate settings are in the servers sshd_config file.
