[PATCH] Add service dependency to network
Hi,
Cygwin only:
Under some circumstances, the sshd service gets accidentally started
*before* the network service has been started up. The reason that this
can happen is, that the sshd service gets installed without a dependency
to the network service in contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config so far.
The below patch fixes that by adding a dependency to the "tcpip" Windows
service. This

[PATCH] contrip/cygwin: Reworking the installation support
Hi,
the below patch to contrib/cygwin is a major rework to allow various
changes in the installation process on Cygwin machines. The important
changes are:
- New Makefile, providing a `cygwin-postinstall' target which allows
to create a base installation as in the Cygwin distribution, which
should be run right after a `make install'.
- Additional information given in the README

[PATCH]: Cygwin: Changes to cygwin contrib area
Hi,
the following patch changes two files in the contrib/cygwin subdir:
It changes the Cygwin specific README file which adds some hints
related to the new feature to switch user context without password
(which means using public key and/or rhosts authentication). Some
old stuff is erased.
The changes to ssh-host-config are intended to allow an easier
startup for users which are new to Cygwin

[patch/cygwin]: Fix documentation
Hi,
could somebody with checkin rights please apply the below patch?
It modernizes and improves readability of the Cygwin README file
(which hasn't been updated for ages), drops unsupported OSes from
the ssh-host-config help text, and drops an unneeded option from
ssh-user-config.
Thanks in advance,
Corinna

[PATCH]: Fix a bug in contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config
Hi,
the following patch fixes a wrong path in a chown command. The
additional leading slash collides with accessing SMB shares using
double slashes as in "//server/share" on Windows systems.

[PATCH] contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config: Improve support for automated updates
Hi,
The below patch fixes two problems.
The first one is a better support for automated scripts. The old
script had a logic problem when it came to asking the caller for
the user account to use for the sshd service.
The second is a problem in the usage of eval.
Could somebody with checkin rights please apply the patch?
Thanks,
Corinna

[PATCH] contrib/cygwin: ssh-host-config and README file update
Hi,
could anybody with check in privileges apply the following patch to the
contrib cygwin directory? It only updates ssh-host-config to create the
*_config files matching the latest versions in the top level dir and it
updates a version number in README.
Thanks in advance,
Corinna

[PATCH] Cygwin: Add SeTcbPrivilege to sshd_server user
Hi,
the below patch adds a Windows NT user right to the sshd_server user
which will be important in an upcoming version of Cygwin. I have a
preliminary implementation which solves the problem that native Windows
processes don't recognize the user name correctly, if the user has
logged in using public key authentication. The new mechanism requires
the SeTcbPrivilege for the user which

[PATCH]: contrib/cygwin/README
Hi,
I have a small patch here which changes the Cygwin README file so
that the following fact is mentioned.
OpenSSH never uses $HOME to search for user config files but the
value in the pw_dir field in /etc/passwd.
This might be of minor interest for generic U*X folks but that's
an important fact for Cygwin users. When /etc/passwd is automatically
created under WinNT/2K it uses the values

[PATCH]: Change Cygwin contrib files to better support PrivSep
Hi,
the following patch patches the files in contrib/cygwin. The changes
are necessary to allow a better support of privilege separation.
On NT machines the script asks now if it should create a user called
"sshd" and all that. Additionally it creates the /etc/ssh_config
and /etc/sshd_config files follows the latest versions.
Would you mind to apply this to the official OpenSSH

[PATCH]: contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config
Hi,
below is a patch to contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config and the corresponding
README in the same dir. It adds a `--port' option to the config script
to allow setting another port than 22 for sshd.
Additionally the script used to add `sshd 22/tcp' to the services file
while the IANA proposes `ssh 22/tcp' and `ssh 22/udp' as services entries.
The new version removes old `sshd'

[PATCH] No extern declarations of optarg & co if getopt.h is available
Hi,
I have a problem with the extern declarations of optarg, optind, etc.
We're currently moving getopt from being a statically linked function
to a dynamically linked function as part of the Cygwin DLL. On Windows,
this requires to generate special symbols (__imp__optarg, etc.), which
is done by marking the exported variables in the corresponding header.
Instead of
extern char *optarg;

[PATCH] Build problem in current portable CVS
Hi,
I just tried to build the latest portable code from CVS on Cygwin.
I stumbled over a problem with the definitions of gai_strerror and
ssh_gai_strerror.
On systems not having gai_strerror, the fake-rfc2553.c file defines
its own version of gai_strerror, and fake-rfc2553.h additionally has
this definition of gai_strerror:
#define gai_strerror(a) (ssh_gai_strerror(a))
OTOH, misc.c

[PATCH]: Add features to Cygwin's ssh-host-config script
Hi,
I have added two features to the ssh-host-config script which is used
in Cygwin installations to prepare the host based OpenSSH configuration.
Now it cares for a /var/log/lastlog file if it's not already installed
(Thanks to "Karl M" <karlm30 at hotmail.com> for that patch) and it now
asks the user if s/he wants to install sshd as a NT service and, if so,
installs it.

[patch/cygwin] contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config
Hi,
would you mind to apply the below patch? It fixes Cygwin's
ssh-host-config script in various ways:
- Remove old code to remove the "sshd/22" entry from /etc/services.
This code fixes a problem which only existed in installations which
are more than 10 years old.
- Handle the StrictMode setting interactively.
- Fix regular expressions looking for white spaces.
- Make the

[PATCH/cygwin]: Explicitely undefine _WIN32
Hi,
I've just trieed to build OpenSSH on Cygwin with Kerberos support enabled,
and while doing that I stumbled over a problem:
The openbsd-compat/bsd-cygwin_util.h header include a Windows header,
and depending on which Win32 header files are included (Mingw32/Mingw64)
that can result in a `#define _WIN32'. This in turn can break linking
against some packages. In my case it's

[PATCH] Care for permissions of /var/empty in contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config
Hi,
the following patch explicitely sets the permissions on /var/empty
to 755 when running the ssh-host-config script on Cygwin. I never
thought it would be necessary but apparently there are actually
users working with a umask of 0. Sigh.
