PAM_LDAP fails with 3.7.1p2 when Shadow password installed on HP-UX 11.11
Hello All, We have been successfully using PAM_LDAP authentication with OpenSSH-3.6 on our HP-UX 11.11. When OpenSSH-3.7.1p2 is installed [with Darrens' password expiry patch 26], and when Shadow password bundle is installed on the system, our ssh authentication failed. Even, when the source is compiled without Darren's patch, the same bahaviour is seen and there is no success. When

Managing core files using coreadm (Solaris + Puppet)
Hi all, I have an interesting one - Solaris uses a lot of commands to configure specific items. A simple example is coreadm. In this example: # coreadm -p "/var/core/core_%n_%f_%u_%g_%t_%p" will set the directory and filename to dump core files (with some expansion). The question is - how to get this to run only if the config has changed. I have come up with 2 options, neither of

README.Solaris9-X86
The "--disable-strip" configure option is required as the Solaris9-X86 linker/loader will not be able to load any of the executables and will display a "Killed" message. Similarly, 'ldd' will fail with a "file has insecure interpreter" error message. Performing a loader or ldd test from the OpenSSH installation directory on the compiled executables within the

What is print_pam_messages() used for ?
Hi, I was investigating why I don't see any warnings from pam_ldap indicating the pending expiration of passwords as well as for PAM_NEW_AUTHTOK_REQD. Eventually, I found that do_pam_account() does not have a conversation function. Also, there is a function print_pam_messages (currently empty) which look suspiciously like it is ear marked to show just those error messages: /* auth-pam.c

Sun Kerberos Password Expiration Problems with OpenSSH 3.7.1p2
I am running Solaris 8 with the Basic Security Module (BSM) loaded and Sun's Enterprise Authentication Mechanism (SEAM) installed. Our servers are using Sun One Directory Services (LDAP) for authorization and Sun's Kerberos 5 implementation for authentication. We have been using OpenSSH 3.4p1 with OpenSSL 0.9.6f and everything has been working fine. We are updating our OpenSSH and OpenSSL

Joining ADS Domain from Solaris9
To everybody who tries do join an ADS Domain from a Samba 3.0.25pre2 server on Solaris 9: The Solaris9 getpass(3C) takes passwords up to PASS_MAX length, which is only 8. That means if you try something like # net ads join -U admin@MY.REALM and the admin password is more than 8 characters in length, you'll get "Preauthentication failed". The solution to this is to use

Still no working windbind on Solaris9 - samba 3.4.9
Greetings, Was away from samba for a time, now trying again. I have this working under Solaris 10, but have not been able to get a functional samba Active Directort member server working on Solaris 9 since samba 3.2.15. Later versions Samba will serve file to PC clients, but not permit interactive logins to the host. I see messages like: ld.so.1: su: fatal: relocation error: file

solaris9+winbind+getent
I've searched the mailing list archives and google and seen quite a bit of this with no solutions. Was hoping to reach out here and find someone who has this working. 1. Solaris 9 (sparc) 2. Samba 3.0.28 3. ADS enabled, trying to integrate with a Win2k AD setup wbinfo works great. I can pull all the groups/users just fine. I've read where we need to kill the nscd daemon, done and no

[re-post] Printing issues. 2.2.7, Solaris9
Hi There Apologies for re-posting this. I am still at a dead end. Sun "Don't Support Samba." I have seen nothing in any of the Doc's out there ( If it is I'd be happy to accept an RTFM ) and need to get this to work. Any suggestions or hints would be VERY welcome. I run a Samba (Version 2.2.7) Print server on a Solaris 9 box. Setup is pretty simple. There are

Unable to build with working iconv support on Solaris9/x86
Hi all, Have had a frustrating time trying to get R 2.5.1 running happily on Solaris9/x86, the problems seem to stem mainly from libiconv support. After a couple of hours of experimenting, I came across the following combination, note that iconv (the program, but not the library) exists in the Solaris base system, I've manually installed the full GNU distribution in

Samba 3.0.23c Install on Solaris9
Hello. I have been trying to find an answer to a problem that has plagued our systems. I am trying to upgrade from 3.0.22 to 3.0.23c. I have been able to compile, but when I go to join it to the AD domain, I keep getting this familiar error that many others have noted but have not posted many solutions to. arcdba-> ./net ads join -U Administrator Administrator's password: Using short

issue with 3.7.1p2
Hello, I have recently download and compiled version 3.7.1p2 of openssh, but am having authentication issues with it. I have been using 3.6.1p1 with no problems. Both versions were compiled on the same Solaris 8 host. That host uses ldap for its name service. Both were compiled using the same openssh config options: --prefix=/opt/openssh --with-pam --with-zlib=/opt/openssh/lib However, the
