Suggestion: Disable PrivilegeSepartion by default
PrivilegeSeparation seems to be a valuable option, however at its current maturity level it is the cause of several problems. Just to name a few: - Incompatible with BSM auditing on Solaris - Incompatible with PAM password aging (for this reason??? the code to handle password expiration has been disabled without ANY notice) - Causes core dumps on HP-UX I think PrivilegeSeparation should be

Conflict between LDAP and Privilege Separation?
Hi all. OpenSSH_4.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7g 11 Apr 2005 on Solaris 8 using host-based authentication. With "PrivilegeSeparation yes" and "UsePAM no" everything works as desired. If I enable PAM, I am able to connect, but just before it gives me a shell, it disconnects. If I leave PAM enabled and disable PrivilegeSeparation, it works. Is this a current limitation, or is there

Specifying with openssl to use
I'm trying to setup dovecot on Solaris 10. I can get it all working except TLS/SSL. I traced my problem down to the version of openssl that Solaris 10 ships with. The fix is supposed to be to use a newer version of openssl. Without removing the built-in version of openssl I've installed openssl-0.9.8b to /usr/local. When I "./configure" dovecot it seems to always pick up the

Is there a product to simulate a PRI trunk?
Does anyone know of a way to simulate the signaling of a PRI trunk for testing/setup purposes? I realize this may be a rather naive question, but I was wondering if you could take a TE110, for example, and using a crossover cable (or not?) and some means of emulating the NI2 signaling protocol connect it to another TE110 on another machine to test and verify an installation before the telco

SAMBA4 and Solaris 10 X86
hello, I have been trying to build/get SAMBA4 alpha13/alpha11 to build on Solaris 10 Update 8 X86. I have tried to use the ./autogen-waf and the other ./autogen and following the procedure ./configure(.developer) seems to conclude correctly, however the actual make and make install seems to fail. I need to make sure first, is Samba4 supported on Solaris? thanks /ayman

Samba 64 bit compilation
Which platform? If on Solaris 10 sparc, GCC (either from Sun or sunfreeware.com) should be 64-bit by default. GCC from Sunfreeware for Solaris 10 x86 will compile 32-bit by default. For Solaris, you are better off using Sun Studio and Dmake. Actually, you are better off just using the compiled version from Oracle/Sun. On 06/13/12 02:08, prabu.murugan at emc.com wrote: > Hi, > >

Samba from Sunfreeware and nss_winbind.so
Sunfreeware.com has compiled packages of Samba 3.4.2 with kerberos and ldap support included (if you also install the ldap and kerberos packages from sunfreeware.) However it does not include the nss_winbind.so.* or libnss_winbind.so.* files. Solaris does include nss_winbind.so already (since it is included with Samba 3.0.x) or I could compile it from the 3.4.x source code. But then I

Replication on dovecot 2.0
Hi Guys I'm running an Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server and not being particually inclined to upgrade I'm wondering what options I have for replication as it appears to be running dovecot 2.0.19. I saw the wiki page about replication and whilst it says you should use 2.2+ it doesn't say what the minimum requirements are, so I tried doing what it says but I get: Fatal: Plugin

openssh-3.9p1: no pam_close_session() invocation
Hello, I would like to point to this problem again as I have not seen a reply to my original posting: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=106458208520320&w=2 and the problem still exists in version 3.9p1. After closing a ssh-session the pam_close_session() function is not invoked. Enabling PrivilegeSeparation (UsePrivilegeSeparation yes) does not help. Could someone

Please check latest solaris package
Hi all, I cannot decide, please help me: http://www.sunfreeware.com/sparc/10/rsync-3.0.9-sol10-sparc-local.gz I downloaded this package and installed. The command file rsync returned a strange message: can't read ELF header - otherwise the file itself is runnable and working. Is there any way to check this file? rl_callback_read_char error on Solaris 7
This question is about compiling R-1.6.2 from source on a Sparcstation-20 machine running Solaris 7, gcc-2.95.3 and readline-4.2 (both gcc and readline from sunfreeware.com). I searched the r-help archive and the FAQ. The errors seem to be related to the binary readline libraries, and I have /usr/local/lib/libreadline.a,libreadline.so@, and libreadline.so.4. The attached errors are from

OpenSSH 3.4p1 "PRNG is not seeded"
I upgraded from OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 to OpenSSH 3.4p1. Starting SSHD or ssh-keygen I'm getting the "PRNG is not seeded". I have verified that prngd is running and "egc.pl /var/spool/prngd/pool get" runs just fine reporting 32800 bits of entropy. My platform is Solaris 8 (sparc) and I downloaded binaries from www.sunfreeware.com. My guess is the build of OpenSSH 3.4.p1 is

Need help compiling Samba on Solaris
I had limited success compiling 3.4.8 and 3.5.4 on Solaris 10 8/07 x86. I downloaded the source code from Samba.org and the dependencies from sunfreeware.com. After some googling and trial and error with the LDDFLAGS, CPPFLAGS and such, it sort of compiled. I need to know how to properly set things up. How can I find out what version of dependencies you need for a particular samba version?

OpenUsePrivilegeSeparation on Compaq V5.1A with C2/SIA Security
I'm using OpenSSH_3.5p1 (server protocol 2.0 ) on a Compaq device V5.1A with C2 Security (SIA) configured. I must set UsePrivilegeSeparation to no to get this working. Does anyone have PrivilegeSeparation working on a Compaq device with C2 Security configured?
