similar to: OT: reasoning behind open vs. closed SSH

Ok this is a weird one. I cannot ssh into my server from the ISP directly. I CAN ssh into my server from the VPN to my company from the ISP. I can ssh into my server on a different port from the ISP directly and the VPN. I am using PAM authentication. I am using PuTTY When it fails, it first asks me for my username, then says "connection closed". any ideas? ===== Jacob Hawkes, B.

IF ssh is a replacement for rlogin,rsh etc I can accept it respecting rlogin=false as rlogin does and rsh does not, however scp is a replacement for rcp, and rcp does NOT use rlogin attribute, so the implementation is NOT standard as scp fails if rlogin=false, but rcp succeeds, as documented. thanks mark

HI, i had messed up with the pam.d so i did a fresh install. now after this fresh install some how getent passwd and wbinfo -u is not working. the rest of the commands kinit net ads join are ok.
