Hostbased Authentication Question
Hi,
I am still working on getting hostbased authentication working in
OpenSSH 3.5p1. I emailed the user list, and got no response. It seems so
simple, yet I have continued to have problems getting it working properly.
I've read posts about it on this list, and the openssh-unix-dev list, and
nothing I have tried seems to work. My question is this, does it matter
which key, either

Hung connection over Juniper Tunnel
Hello list!
So I recently reconfigured our office network to allow a permanent VPN
connection to our data center. This consists of a Juniper SSG-520
connected via a tunnel to a Juniper Netscreen-25 over a 100M leased
NTT VPN (yes I'm tunneling over the VPN as it's the only way to make
it routable.) Here is where OpenSSH come in. When I try and ssh to a
machine on the other end

OpenSSH public key problem with Solaris 10 and LDAP users?
Hello.
I've got a problem logging in to a Sparc Solaris 10 machine with
public key authentication. I searched, and found a similar problem
report at <http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.network.openssh.devel/12694>.
For that guy, the problem had to do with LDAP.
My user accounts are also stored in LDAP, an OpenLDAP server, to be
exact. That server runs on the same machine as the machine

buffer_get_bignum2: negative numbers not supported
Hi
I have added smartcard support to PuTTY and this worked fine
until yesterday when we replaced one of our Slackware-9 machines
by a Slackware-10 one.
Slackware-9 contained OpenSSH 3.5p1 while Slackware-10 has
OpenSSH 3.8.1p1.
Now the same keys that worked before do not work anymore and
OpenSSH fails with
buffer_get_bignum2: negative numbers not supported
I first supected that my

Call for testing for 3.6: password expiry?
I have tried this patch (against 3.5p1) and would very much like it to be in the OpenSSH 3.6p1 release, if possible:
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14
On that note, I'd like the Sun BSM patch to be included also, if possible. I have it working applied to 3.5p1:
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125
In fact, both patches work together, apparently.
If I have any

Piecewise regression in lmer
Dear all,
I'm attempting to use a piecewise regression to model the trajectory
of reproductive traits with age in a longitudinal data set using a
mixed model framework. The aim is to find three slopes and two points-
the slope from low performance in early age to a point of high
performance in middle age, the slope (may be 0) of the plateau from
the start of high performance to the

pam_mkhomedir and priv separation
Hello,
I'm not sure if this has already been addressed, I looked through the
archives and can't seem to find anything. I also did some Usenet
searching and only found one article mentioning this, and it was
in French.
Anyway, the problem is that it appears as though when using privsep
opensshd doesn't execute pam_session as root, and this causes
pam_mkhomedir to fail.

hostbased failing and can't derive reason of failure in debugging output
Hello,
I've troubles getting the hostbased method to work. I've given up on
system-to-system for now (different versions), and I'm just trying to
debug localhost. As far as I can see, the key is accepted, but then a
sudden "Failed hostbased" is returned:

openssh sftp fails to start a session
Hi,
I am having trouble running sftp from the openssh package openssh-5.5p1. There seems to
be an authentication problem.
This is what happens:
$ sftp -o "Port 2022" testu at localhost
testu at localhost's password:
Connection closed
QUESTION:
Can someone spot the problem please? How do I fix this?
FURTHER INFORMATION
I can run openssh's ssh:
$ ./ssh -p 2022 testu at

Problem with factor analysis
Hi all,
I am using the example on page 737 of "The R Book" by Michael J Crawley,
to plot factor loadings against each other (in a multivariate analysis).
However the following line code
plot(loadings(model)[,1],loadings(model)[,2],pch=16,xlab="Factor 1",
ylab="Factor 2")
throws an error message

cwRsync- chdir failed, server 2003
I'm having prolems with cwRsync on server 2003. I'm getting pretty much
identical results to this from the archive:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2004-April/009187.html, and as far
as I can see the only suggestion there was to check permissions.
I have one further complication too- I'm trying to sync a remote server
on to a vmware virtual disk that I've mounted using the

Dantzig Selector
Hi,
I was wondering if there was an R package or routines for the Dantzig
Selector (Candes & Tao, 2007). I know Emmanuel Candes has Matlab
routines to do this but I was wondering if someone had ported those to
R.
Thanks,
T
