Compilation of 3.7p1 failed on IRIX (missing file)
Version 3.7p1 of OpenSSH can't be compiled on IRIX 6.5 because the file
openbsd-compat/inet_ntoa.h
is missing. It is possible to compile successfully using this file out of
version 3.6.1p2.

Use the OpenSSH 3.6 uidswap.c for building 3.7 under IRIX
[resending with uidswap.c instead of uidwrap.c]
Once I got past the missing inet_ntoa.h weirdness, I ran into an sshd
that died a lot. It appears that IRIX doesn't like some of the extra
checks added between 1.23 and 1.24 of uidswap.c. Not sure if that
constitutes an IRIX bug or not, but helpfully this helps someone.

RE Openssh-3.7.1p1
I tried the same work-around on Irix 6.5.15, with both GCC and SGI C
compilers. I was able to get it to run and prompt for a password, then it
just shut down. Still no solution, but I will continue working. Anyone get
it to run on Irix yet?

scp vs ftp performance on SGI IRIX????????
Hi,
Running OpenSSH 3.5p1 or 3.7.1p2 on two SGI orgin 300 systems of IRIX
6.5.17 with
4 600MHz CPU and gigabits network.
Transfer a 1GB file with ftp took 28 seconds.
Transfer a 1GB file with scp took 148 seconds.
Use "snoop" to capture all network packets between these two systems. Ftp
tansmitted
about 107840 packets, but scp transmitted about 763339 packets.
Is this normal? Why?

problems with 3.7.1p1 on IRIX (again)
Hi,
I've seen a few messages re. problems with 3.7.1p1 on IRIX 6.5...
I'm using 6.5.19 and having no trouble compiling, installing and
starting, but sshd just closes the connection with no explanation.
debug/verbose modes don't seem to give any clues.
Darren Tucker suggested defining BROKEN_GETADDRINFO in config.h,
but I find that compilation then fails (assuming I've implemented

IRIX 5.3 permanently_set_uid problem
Hello,
I have tried running OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 on an Indy running IRIX 5.3. It
compiled and installed without any problems.
However, I get the fatal error, which originates from uidswap.c in
function permanently_set_uid():
fatal: permanently_set_uid: was able to restore old [e]uid
This happens even if "UsePrivilegeSeparation no" is used in sshd_config.
It seems to be a problem

[Bug 585] sshd core dumping on IRIX 6.5.18 with VerifyReverseMapping enabled
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=585
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au 2003-09-05 13:39 -------
What's the status of this?
At the moment, my understanding is:
* a bug exists in getaddrinfo in IRIX 6.5.18 and up
* defining BROKEN_GETADDRINFO causes a type clash with gai_strerror
* solving the type clash results in an sshd that works OK
Should we be

configure.in fixes for 2.9.9p2
configure.in patches for 2.9.9p2:
1. Allow --with-pcre to take a path specifying the root of the
PCRE install (ROOT/include, ROOT/lib)
2. Ditto for --with-zlib
3. $no_libnsl and $no_libsocket can be determined programmatically
4. Check for innetgr, getspnam, and util in the default $LIBS before
checking in -lrpc, -lgen, and -lutil, respectively
5. dirname() is in -lgen on some
